I was wondering if anyone knows who makes a .32 S&W Short, conversion cylinder for the Remington .31 cal Pocket Pistol by Pietta? I thought Kirst did, but maybe I'm mistaken. Thanks!......oldelm

Halfway Creek Charlie

Kirst makes one for a 31 cal Colt. I don't see one for a Rem. Maybe R & D makes one.

Thanks,HC......that seems to be what I've come up with, too, in doing some on-line searches. Oh well :(

Marshal Will Wingam

I think R&D used to make one, but dropped it because of the huge variance in the Pietta pistols right out of the box. As I recall, each one had to be factory fit.

Charlie,.......yep,......that was me. I got it for the starting bid of $139.95. I had e-mailed them and asked them to check the chamber/bore alignment beforehand,...and they replied that it was good. Got my fingers crossed that the groove dia. is .456 or under. I think Uberti makes them (ASM), right? I 'd like to get a Kirst .44Rem gated conversion cylinder for it,...thanks to your gettin me all cranked up 'bout the .44Rem/Colt heeled bullet....LOL!!  I got 200 of the 248gr bullets from Bernie today,...along with the Lee modified die,...I'm psyched ;D
Thanks for your inspiration!!

Are you into stainless?,..............an ASP,...very nice .

Marshall,.....R&D,...you're right!!  THAT'S where I remember seeing someone makin that conversion,......darn,...wish they still made it. :(

Howdy!

Uhh ... ASM is Armi San Marco and I don't THINK that Uberti bought them.  Before Beretta bought Uberti.

I'm not an expert, nor do I portray one on TV.

Yea,...I guess it was American Western Arms that took over ASM. That's what I just read on another forum, but word is that ASM went belly up.

Smokin Gun

Oldelm if I recallect I asked R&D if a Uberti Conversion Cylinder work for an ASM ... the reply was no it wouldn't fit but send the ASM in and we'll make a cylinder for  what ever model you want for the same price as our standard models for Uberti and Pietta. I'll see if I saved the email...

Howdy Smokin,......thanks for that info, but I think I'd like to put a Kirst 44.Rem gated conversion in it. I e-mailed River Junction beforehand and asked them if their Kirst conversion cyl. will fit in an ASM, and Jim answered saying to order the Uberti one,..it would work. It would be nice to confirm that from someone else, too, I guess.

Smokin Gun

Howdy there Oldelm...well that's good news. If that's the case your in business...First did you win the 1858 ASM yet? Second when you gonna order the Kirst?  It wouldn't go to waste if it din't fit correct?   ;D
I know the R&D Drop-in iis differant, but you could always do a check fit with iti on the ASM when you get it and see if it's close. With the Kirst you'd have more to work with as far as fittin it would go. Did you call or email Kirst?

Smokin,......yes, I did win the ASM,...and I'll try my Uberti R&D in it when it arrives,...... just to see. As I said in my previous post, I e-mailed Kirst and a fellow named Jim there said the Uberti Kirst .44 Rem cyl. would work in the ASM. :)

Congrrads Oldelm tell me all about it after ya check er  out!

I read someplace that ASM was operated by one of the Uberti fanmily and was later bought out (the leaving's after the banckruptcy) by Uberti.
As for Uberti parts working on ASM's I haven't a clue.

Oldelm,
I'd love to find an Amri San Paolo '58 Rem. like Smoking_Gun's. I'm not into Stainless, but it looks like a good price though. I have small hands and Sg's gun fit sooooo well. It dfelt like my old original '58 Rem. conversion. If they are the same size now, I might have to have a new one. Euroarms took them over. Hope they didn't change the tooling to make them bigger.

Hey Charlie,...I like that new avatar ya got :).................looks like nice high country desert.

Yep,.....I'll bet a new Euroarms would be the ticket. My guess is that they haven't changed the tooling, cause that's expensive and really not necessary. Got any idea who is selling  them? Cabelas, maybe?  I'll have to contact a few of the retailers/distributors and find out. I really like the feel of my Uberti Rem,...but to think that there's a frame even smaller yet,...well that's mighty appealing. 8)

Send Dick Dastardly a PM. I'm pretty sure he has one. Not sure if it's a Kirst or R&D.

QuoteThis conversion cylinder is manufactured to fit the steel frame 1863 Pocket Remington in .36 caliber manufactured by Pietta. The cylinder converts to .32 S & W Short.

They say it fits the .36 cal 1863 Pocket Rem,....but it's a .31 cal.  ???.....must be a typo,.....will have to call.
