Oil & Leather for Color

Looking for a good recipe for oiling leather for a good brown color.  I figure this is how El Paso is getting the standard russet brown color they sell.  I'm looking for a soulition verses dye.

Not sure about El Paso.  But the commercial leather maker I am very familiar with uses a pigmented neatsfoot oil.  This gives a very consistent "saddle tan"

1) Weaver Leather sells an oil darkening additive - you can control how dark

2) Wickett & Craig sells their leather in chestnut - a light coat of oil or two is all you need to get a nice medium russet
