Howdy! To those going to the upcoming NCOWS convention in Feb. What seminars do you plan to attend & why? Would just like to see what folks are the most interested in. Consider it a survey. If you don't know what the seminars are, go to www.ncowsconvention.com to see the schedule......WBR

Howdy,

I recon that I will be going to 5 seminars.  Four as a seeker of knowledge and one as the presenter.  My choices are:

A Historic Military Saddle which will tell me more than I will ever need to know about Mr. McClellan invention.

Pocket Watch Accounterments as I collect them!

Hey! What's in Your Pocket to see what I am missing. [Yea guys, I know that I have too much to take already, but I have contracted the terrible malady with no known cure, collectoritis ::) ]

Historical Research for Writing a Western Novel to increase my bibliography of research sources.

SHAMELESS PLUG

3:30 pm Friday Room B - My presentation on Medicine 1850 - 1899 -- A Revolution in Medical Practices.  Also includes a show and tell of medical artifacts 1800 to 1885.  Come find out why!

End of SHAMELESS PLUG

I will also be spending some time working at the Originals table and the Kansas Vigilance Committee table.

Still hope to get in a little shopping!

See ya there! ;D

Wow, alot of good topics. If I can be there those that peak my interest would be Historic Military Saddle or Period Correct Camp furniture - unfortunately I believe they are at the same time, and Medicine 1850 - 1900. I see some on sunday I'd like to attend but will probably have to head out early on that day to suffer that 12 hr. drive.

Well...................

Historic Military Saddles, Friday

Medicine 1850-1900, Friday (Dr. Bob, a little blood and gore never hurt anybody eh?(a play on words))

Historic Wet Plate Photgraphy, Saturday

Life and Times of Buffalo Bill, Saturday

Cartrdge Coversions and Display, Saturday

That about peaks my interest since I didn't see anything being presented on 19th century Native Americans, such as building an impression, language, culture and clothing....

Looks like OCB needs to put on a seminar next year! :)

I myself WBR, will only be there on Sat. so that leaves out any seminars on Fri. or Sun. If I can get there early enough (work late on Fri. night) I want to see Pocket Watch Accoutrements and after that, Cartrage Conversions & Display. If I decide to skip the Fremont Gun Show & drive back down on Sun. I would like to see Appraisal & Purchasing Antique Firearms........WBR

Given the fact that the Fremont Gun Show is now one of the poorest ones around - you may want to re-think your plans ...

Howdy! Speaking of the convention, specificilly the seminar on Cartrage Conversions & Display by Walter Kirst, does anyone know if the display will be of originals or reproduction guns or a combination of the two......Thanks!....WBR

Since I am giving the seminar and seeing the number of folks attending the Historic Military Saddle Seminar, I guess I better start putting something together.  I know the topic states the time period starts at 1865; however, I plan on starting at the 1830s and moving forward using actual (repro) saddles to discuss the advantages/disadvantages, why the military adopted the particular model, and improvements to each.
