Boot Resoling

Not sure if this is in the correct forum or not but I am needing a pair of period correct boots resoled along with Cuban heels put on and was wondering if anybody might know where I could get this done? I want it to be done authentically so I know that not just any boot repair shop can do it. I thought somebody might know of a place that is known to fix this type of boot.

When you say "cuban heels put on" do you mean it has low heels and you want the high ones?  I would say two things, one is that the boots, having been made for low heels, probably (I'm not sure) won't be able to take cuban heels because there is not enough rise in the arch of the sole.  Also, have you worn cuban heels?  Very uncomfortable to walk in, being made for riding.

I have a couple pairs of boots (Texas Jacks) with cuban heels that were very uncomfortable until I followed the advice of a few folks and had the heels lowered by 1/4" which is hardly noticeable but actually did make a huge difference in comfort.  I would have had low heels put on them but the steel shank in the sole would have made the toes point up and the cobbler told me they would then kill me to wear.

As for who can do "authentic" work (pegged soles?) sorry, I don't know, perhaps others here will. Good luck.

The boots actually have a high, underslung heel and I like the looks of the Cuban better . Neither are very comfortable . I hope somebody can recommend somebody lol

My understanding of the term "Cuban heels" is that they form a "shelf" at the upper, rear end of the heel for the spurs to rest on.

I would contact the Civil War Sutlery "James Country Mercantile" of Liberty, MO.
They sell period boots and steel heel-plates, and if they don't do refurbishing of such boots inhouse I'm pretty sure they know who does...

I've done business with them back when I was active in the WBTS-reenacting hobby, and they were always friendly and helpful.
