IF, you are planning on shooting B.P., you will have a more harmonious outcome with a Pedersoli/Uberti replica. Along with the fact that the tang sight on the Little Bighorn is close to useless, along with the camlatch issue.(which is easily resolved)

The H&R tang sight bottoms out at 200 yards when at the lowest position - think of it as the 'battle sight'.

Further adjustments were for the owner/shooter to figure out individually, with smokeless commercial .45-70, and file marks were the 'Order of the Day' - using a scribe.

They were never calibrated for BP - when they came out in the early '70's - no one was shooting it.

You can always mount an original rear sight - it'll obscure some of the barrel's markings at the top of the lettering, but that isn't a problem.

If you do that to the 'Officer's Rifle' - you need an original Rifle sight, and should mount a Beech front sight - a wooden, checkered pistol grip finishes it, because the original metal ones are too large for the wrist of the H&R, and the ones supplied with some of the commemoratives are a major pain to source.

Pedersoli bought up a lot of the discontinued stock (as well as finished, used ones) of H&Rs while figuring out their production of same and re-marking them.
