Hit 71 here today and sunny, but the temps are gonna get back to normal this week. Been breaking in a new carry gun, switching to a lighter gun for my daily carry, a Sig P365XL with a red dot optic on it. 12+1 rounds of 9mm that is really slim and much lighter than my beloved 1911 Commander.

Morning! At least it's morning here, soon to be hot and humid. "Here" happens to be in the Philippines, been visiting the wife's family. Currently, we are at a hotel in Tagbilaran City, but spent the last several days at the family's home town of Sevilla. No internet there except by cell tower, which I have no way to connect to. It's 6:15 AM on Monday here, still Sunday at home, though. Be here about another week.

What's the Flight time to Philippines, is it direct from Calif. or layover in Hawaii ?
when planets align...do the deal !

This time flight time was just over 14 hours, for the leg from Seattle to Manilla. The actual flight route goes near the Aleutian Islands, and off the Russian coast, past Japan to Manilla. Doesn't make sense when you look at it on a flat map, but on a globe it does. This was the first time I've had a direct into Manilla flight, usually there's a layover in Korea, Japan or Taiwan, depending on which countries airline you use. Last time I flew Philippine Airlines, (16-17 years ago) they had a "refueling stop" on Guam. I guess that since they've switched from 747s to 777s, they have more range and can fly non stop.

Pouring rain here today, quiet here as LadyC is getting ready for her colonoscopy tomorrow. Had a customer bring the cutest blue heeler pup into the shop yesterday, stole all our hearts as he was a friendly little guy.

Your rain arrived here, Deacon. It is trying to turn into sn*w.

'Tis 35 and sleeting/sn*wing. "Windy. Colder. Rain and snow in the morning  then snow in the afternoon. Patchy fog in the morning. Considerable blowing and drifting snow. Snow may be heavy at times. Snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches. Highs in the upper 30s. Temperatures falling into the mid 20s in the afternoon. North wind 15 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 35 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent."

The Trinity Kid

Greeting from Big Sky Country.

Here for my quarterly pound of flesh for Uncle Sam. Looks like it's my last, myself and a few others around all have been nonretained. Mixed feelings on that one. I guess I'll head home and cry in my DD-214 about it. Maybe even join the VFW.  ::)

The trip out was an experience. Uncle Sam decided greyhound was cheaper than United, so I've spent the past 2.5 days with my rear in a bus. Had a 5 hour layover in Butte, MT, and other than that my only time not in a normal sitting position was the 20 minutes it took to switch busses. What do bus passengers have against showering?

Blizzard is over, not sure how much, 65-70 mph gusts. Got Brown Dogs nails clipped, and ears cleaned, some supplies picked up and slid in back home as the snow started.  Went to Johnson one of many meat markets around and got this, all different, $47 worth but I'm stocked for a while on lazy suppers. ;D

Aw Del, that's just mean to be posting that pic! Looks delicious. Slim, hope that moisture we sent you doesn't turn into snow. TK sounds like a "memorable" bus trip. I play tabletop games and have started a movement called GAGG, Gamers Against Gamey Gamers. Our motto "Take a bath PLEASE!".

With my father, being a Slovenian, I grew up in a Slovenian neighborhood in Milwaukee. There were several Slovenian grocery stores in the area. They all sold homemade smoked Slovenian Keilbassa. It was to die for. Truth be told, I'd rather eat smoked Slovenian sausage than the finest steak.

Hard to find here in florida. My son is going to buy a smoker and maybe I'll try my hand at making my own. I'm seacrhing for recipes and so far I've found this one: https://www.raddellssausage.com/blogs/news/the-art-of-making-slovenian-smoked-sausage
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

All those local small store sausages are good, or at least I never found any that wern't. Worth a little extra for what you get.

Yes, the local stores were great. Eventually, all of the Slovenian Grocery stores closed. We started going to a sausage store on Milawaukee's south side https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/eurosausage12  His sausages were were as good as you could get. I also enjoyed shooting the breeze with Frank. Eventually, he also closed for good. I may have to make my own.
