Gotta admit I'd never thought about it before either.

Welllllll .  .  .   If you're building something to BEAR hunt with,  you might take into consideration the rifling in the revolver as well as the ammo you'll be using .  .  .
Just sayin' .  .  .

Quote from: Abilene on January 29, 2025, 12:20:32 PMJust take a '61 barrel and re-bore it.  That should be simple enough?  ;D  :D  ;D  ;)

That seems to be the easy solution, but finding one with the tools and skills to do so is becoming a lost art.....and exspensive........

Abilene

Yeah, that's why all the smilies.  :)   Okay, this should be simpler.  Just use the '61 barrel as-is and load dead soft bullets, they'll swage down to .370 when you shoot them!   ;D

I was going to wait til April 1, but that's too long.

That could work, you take the first shot? ;D

Abilene

Sure, I'll take the first shot...with your gun...with a string from behind a tree.  :)

Let's see, how about this.  Take a .370 conical bullet, paper-patch the hell out of it till it will crimp in the .45 case.  The bullet will go into the barrel and the paper will become confetti...

...in theory...

I'd still use the tree.  ;D

Quote from: Hair Trigger Jim on January 25, 2025, 08:47:57 PMI think Cheyenne's saying it should be available without the stock screws but still with the stock cut in the recoil shield.

Yup, you get it! ;)  ;D

Well, twouldn't be perfect but one "could" file the head off the stock screws, Hot Glue a stick to the screw stub and turn the screw into the threads with some RED LocTite then remove the stick then hit the screw with a drop of cold blue.  Maybe.  Sorta.  Almost??

Abilene

Cheyenne, I know you are trying to create a specific authentic model and I can appreciate that.  I only own a single gun with stock screws, my '61 Kirst-Strite, and it isn't really period correct anyway.  But the shoulder stock screws bugged me so I sent them to Dragoon 45 Mike and he shaved them down and made them pretty and slotted the inside.  So this won't help you, but as long as we're on the topic of screws... :D :)

Abilene, those look nice, and I do turn the heads down and slot them, thought it was neat that those screw heads were so much thinner on the old 1860 I just got. Those look nice :o  and Dragoon does nice work....I may have some more normal work he can help with...... ;D
