Remington Dubbel Action

How 'bout this boys and girls?
Two thirds of the Swedish collection of Remington DA revolvers ;D
The caliber seems to be some sort of .38 rimfire on one of them.
Any sugestion on what the caliber might be called?
Unfortunatly they are not mine, but belong to a dear friend near by.
Any information and history would be nice.

Evidently a few of them were made with full-fluted cylinders. I really think they look great, either way.

.38 Rimfire or .38-100 are what the Calibre designations are.
I'll attempt to dig out my books soon & get you the stats on the Remington/Ryder Belt Model D/A

You're better off not guessin' on Intel such as this. ;D

One thing I know. They started out as .36 percussion models.

That's OK, it's more than I have of it. Thanks for posting the pic. I love the long flutes on the cylinder. I think Qball is on the right track about replicating one. I'd love to have a working version of one myself.

The Collonel is having trubbel with his internet but is going to try to help me.
Im in no hurry because the owner of the guns is restoring a house and is kind of busy ::)
Saw the collonels DA Remingtons on the SCORRS site so naturaly he was the first person to contact.

Remington-Rider D/A New Model Belt Revolver: 1863-1873 in percussion w/ subsequent production in metallic cartridge.
Total estimated @ 5,000. Percussion; .36 calibre. 6-shot round cylinder. 61/2 octagon Bbl; threads visable @ breech end.
Safety notches on cylinder shoulders between cones. Walnut grips. Blued finish; casehardened hammer.
Some specimens overall nickel plated or w/ nickel frame & balance blued. Values about the same on all types.
Serial numbered, probably along w/ the New Model Single Action Belt Revolver.
Usual Bbl. marking: MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON'S, ILION, N.Y./RIDER'S PT. AUG. 17, 1858, MAY 3, 1859. early specimens marked PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW MODEL.
One of the easiest of the Remingtons to I.D. w/ its distinctive double action mechanism. Screws enter on the right side of frame. Came in standard model described above. Fluted cylinder models; identical to above, but w/ a distinctive full fluted cylinder generally found on low serial numbered specimens, Estimated a few hundred produced.
Factory coversion to breech-loading metallic cartridge; .38-100 calibre w/ special factory installed 2-piece cylinder. Variation in sights have been noted. As w/ other conversion loading levers have been left intact.
