I have a Spencer 2 band 50 cal rifle.I don't see many. Are these uncommon. Any help with this appreciated. Thanks

They made something like 1008 1108 of these as conversions from carbines.  It should be marked as a Burnside Model 1865 and have a saddle ring.  Barrel serial number should match the receiver.  They "kind of" take a M1855 or M1870 bayonet (same diameter as Civil War musket), but you may have to try several to find one that fits.

Survival rate seems fairly high, but they didn't make very many.

Edit to correct reported number made.

Thanks for that. The numbers do match and it was a Burnside carbine.

https://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php?topic=65863.0  has some information about shooting them.

You might also be able to search through the old Spencer Shooting Society posts--I no longer can since the updates to the website.
