I haven't done anything at all yet with the stainless Pietta '58s that I won, other than decide I will keep them and get a .45 conversion cylinder of some sort.  But it did give me the Remington bug.  So I bought a new pair of consecutive s/n New Model Navy conversions in .38 Spcl.  Shot them in two matches so far with no misses.  These guns have recessed chambers so the rim doesn't show from the side.  One gun has witness holes on the sides to see if loaded, but the other does not, so I've marked a certain chamber next to a proof mark to be the empty on that one.  The slot in the grip frame for the main spring is quite a bit oversized, and the strain screws are waaay too long.  To get a decent hammer pull the strain screw is sticking out of the front strap more than 1/8".  I will be trimming those set screws or replacing them.  Meantime, I just took them out but that makes the pull too light, so I stuck what looks like a washer in front of the spring as a spacer.  It is actually a link from a keychain.  This makes the hammer pull much nicer.  They will pop Ginex small rifle primers.  I bought some of these during the pandemic, didn't need them but just to try.  They are a little less sensitive than my usual Federal primers.  I've loaded a bunch of empty brass cases with them for testing guns.  If it will pop a Ginex, then Federal is no problem.  Anyways, I've got new grips on order and will update with new pics when those arrive.

Those look great! Congratulations.

I've shortened tension screws before. Many of them are just too long.
