Black powder bullet lube

What is a good bullet lube for black powder cartridges?  Can I just use the same stuff I use for cap and ball (50/50 beeswax and tallow)?

Or would straight paraffin work?

There are just about as many recipes for blackpowder-lube as there are blackpowder shooters...

For long-range work "SPG Bullet Lube" seems to be the benchmark.

For "short range work" (read: CAS) you can probably get by with your beeswax/tallow-mix.

You might want to up the beeswax-percentage a little to make the lube adhere to the grease-grooves a little better.
Adding a spoonful or two of Lanoline (grease from sheep's wool) will also make the bulletlube more sticky.

Always SPG for Blackpowder, and often with smokeless too.

Try looking up "Emmeret's Lube". 50% beeswax, 40% white Crisco. and 10% vegetable oil. It will work with both smokeless and black powder.

Bullshop's NASA lube is the lube I've came to prefer for blackpowder and it works well with smokeless also
