I've had this gun for quite awhile and spent time and money trying to get it to shoot paper patch bullets. After giving up on that, I have some 40 caliber bullets I shoot in my 40-65's and tried those.

Holy crap, I could shoot gophers with it. I wanted to kill a deer with it this fall and got a nice mule deer buck at about 120 yards...

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!

Dang Shrapnel,
That is just awesome! I always enjoy and greatly appreciate the excellent pictures and fine original firearms you use as they were intended. Nice buck, simply outstanding Sharps- so cool that you go gopher hunting with a real "buffalo gun".
I have a decent "Freund & Bros" marked Ballard No. 5 Pacific in 44-77 SBN that I struggled with paper patched, and finally found a grease groove bullet that likewise shoots great. Got a couple deer and a buffalo with it, but not a buck like that..  or any gophers at all...
 Thanks for posting,
 Big Goose
