I scored a Marlin 1894 in .38-40 made in 1901. This is a caliber I haven't done much with but I happened to have an oldish box of Ultramax 180 grain smokeless ammo. I was suprised at how well it shot when I got a 1" group at 25 yards and then a 2" group at 50 yards. This was with the range closing and not much time to take my shots. I get the feeling this rifle is going to shoot really good.

I will be reloading for this rifle so I was wondering if anybody knows what type of bullet is being used in the Ultramax 180 grain ammo?

I will post some pics when I get time.

I found out the Ultramax factory in South Dakota had a fire in 2018 and as a result went out of business. I was able to find more info on Midway.

The velocity was listed at 700 fps but no indication as to whether this was out of a rifle or a pistol.

At Buffalo Arms here.

The velocity here was listed as 750 fps out of a 7 1/2" barrel.
