Recently acquired a pair of 45/8 inch Deputies in .357.  Fit and finish seem pretty good.  They are a bit stiff to cock.  They have a 4 click hammer and a Ruger like transfer bar mechanism.  The base pin is held captive buy the ejector not sure why they made the pin captive but the upside one cannot loose it.

Is anyone out there using Taurus Deputies?  I have yet to shoot them.

Shot the Deputies in a cowboy action match today, six stages 30 rounds per gun.  They seem to cock a bit easier having been shot a bit.  One oddity is the loading gate seems to move closer to the cylinder when the gate is opened causing needing a bit of effort to turn the cylinder to load the subsequent rounds.  Once the first round passes the loading gate the cylinder turns easy for the subsequent rounds.  I do the cowboy load load one skip one load four the cylinder turned easy for rounds 2,3,4, and 5.  The guns seem to shoot where pointed albeit I mostly listen for the clang rather than take time to look to see where the rounds landed.  I had one miss that was my fault at a really close target.  That funny bump at the end of the barrel will work if you use it.

One other thing you need to know, there is a small bushing in the front of the cylinder, it will fall out when you take the cylinder out of the frame.  Look out for this to happen so you do not loose it.

I will give a proper range report once I get to the range and shoot some paper. Will probably shoot the Taylor Cattleman 44-40s and my ruger vaqueros as well to give group sizes for each so you will know my abilities and how they compare to other pistolas with me shooting them.
