25 Years

Yesterday at the Tejas Caballeros was my 25th anniversary CAS match. Had a little problem with the rifle plate rack on the first stage when my 32-20 rifle started misfiring - the main spring screw had loosened, easy fix.  As you can see, fun still trumps winning.

Nice shooting. In my club, picking up a live round off the ground and using it is a big no no.

Until a few years ago it was also not SASS-legal, but is okay now. Not too many club-specific rules around here.

Get all the correct gear, and you get all dressed up, drive 3 hours
To shoot for 60 seconds? "

 And all I could say was "well, not any more i guess"

This thought is inspiring me to organize my own shoots with 3 buddies,
Drag my own KD targets on my trailer to the open space about 30 minutes away.

As slow as I am at 78, my time is more like 400 seconds for a match. I have to drive an hour to Clovis or an hour to Plainview to shoot.  If I shoot with my home NCOWS club I have to drive 6 hrs, but it is still fun.

Well done indeed.  Just as an aside, it never ceases to amaze me the number of folks don't seem to pay attention to changes in SASS rules.  At a recent 3 day event, a shooter dropped a round, safely picked it up and a yahoo in the peanut gallery yelled at the top of his voice "STOP - you CAN'T DO THAT" and called loudly for a stage DQ.  WHADDA PUTZ.  He did similar to several shooters and was finally told to A) Read the current rule book and B) Shut up or leave.

Coffinmaker, I hear you.  But I think the worst is setting the rifle down after firing with the lever closed.  We have been yelling "lever!" for so many years, it is hard to break the habit even when you know the rule changed.
