Wife, 2 friends and I saw it Friday.  One friend and I liked it, the wife and other friend hated it.  It is the first of 4 movies, so don't go in expecting everything to wrap up nicely.

SPOILERS ahead

It seems to be three movies, at this point, one in KS, one in WY and the third in southern AZ.  I am sure they will come together at some point.  There are no bad guys in black hats and good guys in white hats.  There is a lot of ambiguity about who is good and who is bad.  The last 5 (?) minutes is a montage of scenes from the next movie, which will end with a montage of scenes from the next movie........

It is not a documentary.  I did not see any belt loops, but there were a LOT of cartridge pistols for 1863.

I thought it was superb! I knew it was long and knew it wasnt going to resolve completely going in. It was a big well done work of cinema set in several western states depicting the grit harshness and perseverance we all love about the genre. A+

Marshal Halloway

It was a great movie, but not necessarily a movie for the masses. You have to have some connection to the real history of the western expansion to appreciate it. Did Costner spend a lot of money to make it for a wide audience? Well, gambling on this as an independent filmmaker, it kind of makes you wonder. But regardless, I enjoyed it together with the other 5 people in the theatre.... With a 60 seats capacity. Waiting for the next one in August.

I'll wait until I can see it at home, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I don't go the theatres anymore; I don't enjoy the experience...
I believe the last time was in 2019 "Rambo Last Blood"

RUDE diseased people, noisy, cell phone flashings, kids running amuck, occasionally a kick in the seat from the asshat headed to the concession or water closet.

Not to mention, at home I can pause the show, and go pee.

My sentiments exactly

UH Oh !   ???

Gleaned from an On-line media post ... ::)

A statement from a New Line Cinema spokesperson read,
"Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have decided not to release 'Horizon: Chapter 2' on August 16 in order to give audiences a greater opportunity to discover the first installment of 'Horizon' over the coming weeks."

The film was meant to follow the June 28 release of "Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1." Costner has spoken of two more chapters that have yet to be made. In two weeks of release, the first film, with an estimated cost of $100 million and a running time of 3 hours and 1 minute, has brought in just $24.5 million. Costner, who directed, co-wrote, produced and stars in "Horizon," is reported to have invested some $38 million of his own money into the project.

Can't help with the pee part but as Marshall Halloway said, you won't be bothered by the masses.  I saw it with 3 friends.  There were 6 other people in the theater that probably sat 200.  Good movie but not for the uneducated masses.

I was really anxious to see it. I loved Dances with Wolves and Open Range. It was $24.99 to buy and $25 for two theater tickets. I preferred to watch it at home so I bought it on Amazon Prime. We watched it last night. I was disappointed. I found it hard to follow. It jumped around a lot and some of the scenes made no sense to me.

Please don't go by my word. I'm by no means a movie critic. Just my humble opinion.

I am going to watch it again and see if I can get more out of it

I watched it again and twice in spots for some scenes and got the same reaction. I still found it hard to follow and some of the scenes still did not make any sense to me. I really hate to be negative on anything but thats how I see it. I do feel sorry for Kevin Kostner. This was his dream project and he invested a signifcant amount of his own money in this movie.

Again, please don't go by my word. I'm just an old timer used to watching movies like Open Range and Lonesome Dove.

I will watch Part-2 when it come out.
