I have the barrel.
In fact, I have two.
The 44 cylinder I have will not function correctly.
So, I need to replace it.

Dawg - what doesn't function right with the cylinder you have?  Is it too big for the frame, or ?

I got it with a bunch of open top parts from a SASS shooter years ago.
All worked fine except this cylinder.
I have never been able to use it.
Seems to fit the frame, but does not rotate correctly, & the cylinder stop beats up the cylinder. 
Replace it with another 44 cylinder, and the replacement fits and functions perfectly.
I've tried it in 2 or 3 open tops, and it's always the same story.
So, it has sat in my "non-functional" parts box the last few years.

That's a possibility -- ASM did make Open Top cartridge guns.
I've shot one of their 38s, but they may have made a 44 as well.

Yes, ASM made the type 1 Richards in 44 Colt.  It was a pretty accurate copy in that caliber except for the non-rebated cylinder and un-notched frame.  If it was one of theirs, the diameter would be smaller than Uberti and only 44 Colt would fit.  44 Russians might chamber but only every other hole because the rims would overlap.  So it would be easy to identify.

That would be an interesting project!

Actually, I called Taylors, and spoke with a gunsmith.
He told me that a modern-made Open Top (Last 10 years or so)
should accept a modern-made 44 cylinder.
Little or no fitting required.
So, I'll probably just go that way!

Yes, that should do it.
My understanding is that the Open Tops were designed so that you could have one frame, and different sets of cylinder/barrel combinations.
A long time ago, when I first started, I had cylinder/barrel sets in 38 and 44 with different barrel lengths.
I would switch 'em around at will.
They all fit & functioned well.
Just want to do that again, if I can.
Barrel lengths in 3", 5.5", and 7.5" in both 38 & 44.
One set of frames with the arbor and hand spring mods, and cylinder stops.
I started this way, & would like to end this way.

Hey Hey Hey Hey    Stolen famous line from the Cosby Show

The Uberti Open Top is the Chameleon of Replicants.  It is a "Be All - End All".  over my years Gunplumbing, I fit up a half dozen Open Top Sets.

The Recipe:

One (or two) Frame and Action, tuned.  then add

A .38 Cylinder and Barrel - Shoot all .38 based cartridges, three or four of them.

A  .44 Cylinder and Barrel - Shoot .44 Special, .44 Colt (modern) and 44 Russian
      (Some barrels marked .44 Colt really are and will not chamber 44 Spl)

A  .45 Cylinder and Barrel - Shoot C45S, 45 Schofield and 45 Colt.

DISCLAMER:  I'm not an advocate of 45 Colt in an Open Top.  While Proofed for factory 45 Colt, Hot Rodding can be disastrous.  The cylinder walls simply are not thick enough.  I personally run C45S in my .45 cylinders and barrels.

I forgot to include one other tidbit.  If one desires to have an Octagon Barrel on one's Open Top, the Octagonal barrel from a Uberti 1851 conversion will fit right up.  Fun Stuff are Open Tops.
