I have had a Marlin 1894 in my safe for over 15 years and have never shot it. It has been rebuilt by someone at sometime but I have no idea by whom or when. I picked it up as part of a trade....

Anyway, it has a 26 inch round barrel that is marked "Marlin Fire-Arms", New Haven Ct. I do not believe the barrel to be original to this gun but I have no idea. The crown is counter-bored about 0.100". The receiver has been poorly case-hardened but overall it is an interesting looking gun.

Anyone care to hazard a guess about who may have built this and where the barrel may have come from?

I have to reduce a couple of more photos.....

Unless the previous owner had an original roll stamp, my thinking is it is an original barrel. Depending on the serial number you could possibly have an early model 94 that has been relined. The folks on the Marlin forum will certainly know.
