I thought that I'd mention this in case anyone is interested. I am not the seller, I don't know the seller and I can't vouch for the seller (although they have a 100% positive eBay rating).

In case anyone cares, the book sold for $62 + $5 shipping.  I don't know if it was someone here who bought it, but it shows how sought-after these specialty books can be.

I did win it.  Fairly hard to find, but I thought it was reasonable. Thanks for the heads up, I never knew it was even listed.

Great find:

Thanks for sharing.
Please tell us if it is a first or second edition.
Second Editions, 10 years ago, new, were $70.  In my opinion, yours in seemingly as-new condition is easily a $100+ item.
All the best,

I was one of the "watcher's"
I did not bid as I have a 2nd edition copy but wanted to see what it went for.
I'm pretty sure I paid $ 75 for my copy maybe 10 or so years ago.

Edit: for Kevin's comments ... :)
when planets align...do the deal !

I'm glad that it worked out!

I have a first edition. Were there significant improvements with the second edition?

EDIT: Actually, mine says "First R&R Edition" with a 1995 date.  I'm apparently ignorant regarding the various editions...

Hello:

I have not seen a 1st Edition (1983), so have not compared the 1st and 2nd (1990) Editions.

I have been told by someone that has seen them that "All known Spencer company records are at the Cody Museum, in disarray".

Information not in my 2nd Edition:

Dimensional drawings, if exist.
Rifling twist rates for most models.
Info about off-spec parts in wartime sporters.
Who built the rifling machinery for the wartime tapered bores?
Details about1865 Models having thinner frames.
A reference for the use of "Norway Iron".
Finally, that Wilder first tried to get Henry's, but they were not available, so he purchased Spencer's.  Some of his troops did obtain Henry's later.
These are not criticisms.

The amount of research by Mr. Marcot is impressive, and I respect him for it.  Smiles.

Took delivery of the book today. It appears to be the first edition. Turns out it's in excellent condition and like all the other Marcot books I possess, amazing it it's detail.

Excellent! I found it to be fascinating as well. I'm glad that it worked out for you.
