Easy analogy WW, not everybody can get a date and have you priced a hooker lately?  That doesn't mean they should consider sleeping with their mother       To a true sootlord those are equal sins.

Dr. Bob

Howdy Dick Dastardly,

To be a little more specific, as long as the RV's are not the Bisley variety, they and the other firearms that you mention are all NCOWS legal.  I plan on being there and being a gambler is a part of my persona too.  Don't see any kind of a problem!  Hope you can make it!

I don't think reloading is a problem for Dick Dastardly.  Have any of you heard of the big lube bullet???

George:  As for that $2, for $1 you can have gallopin' Gertie.  She's blind in one eye and deaf in both ears.  She's more yer speed. ;D

Wymore,

As regards the price of premium BP factory loads, e.g., those by Republic Metallic Cartridge that George and I wrote articles about in Nov-Dec Shootist, they are 13-14 dollars per 50 (minus the cost of brass). Ten-X BP loads cost about the same, whereas those by Goex are really pricy. Premium nitro "cowboy" loads (e.g. Winchester) cost the same as the RMC and Tex-X loads and still fall short in authenticity.

Depending on whether or not you cast bullets (with paid for equipment) or buy commercial bullets, a box of 50 BP rounds, loaded to late 1800 specs as regards muzzle velocity and bullet weight, will cost 4-6-8 dollars (cost of brass not included).

The dollars saved by reloading can be critical to some. To others it is simply sub-minimum-wage work.

Lots of folks I have shot with over the years much prefer to buy quality ammo than to reload, especially when shooting at expensive, away-from-home matches. I do both and always have. I have been a reloader since the 1950s. I reload for quality ammo, suited to my needs and guns, and to save a few bucks.

I am a bit perplexed, so I will just state my question plainly.  I understood at the Convention earlier this month, that NTR was withdrawing its request for NCOWS sanctions on its shooting events for the year.  I understood that only two sanctioned events would be held, and one has already been held.  I know one event in question was the Mid Western Regional, but I am wondering what the status of this event is.  Perhaps it slipped through the cracks or are there other reasons?  This has me scratching my head.

Thanks for your response.

As a NTR member, and not speaking for the officers of our club, it is my understanding that the encampment will meet our obligations to NCOWS for holding two required events stated in the bylaws.  As far as the rest of the schedule, myself and many others are still planning on shooting there monthly, it doesn't matter to me wheter is sanctioned or unsanctioned, I'm going to have a good time with my friends... ;D

The Old West Encampment Event to be held April 28-30 is an NCOWS Sanctioned Event as is advertised in THE SHOOTIST and on this forum.

From what I heard at the Congress meeting, this is a non-shooting event.  Is that a correct assumption?

Joss;

Thanks for the link.  I was genuinely curious.

The KVC Two Gun Regional is the following week and I will probably be at the range to help set it up.  Otherwise I would go to the Historical Encampment whether there was shooting or not.

Well, my brother-in-law that is wanting to get into CAS, is wanting to shoot at the Old West Encampment.  I'm happier than a pig in s**t!!!  Just need to find him a gunbelt that fits.  I've already got the holsters.

Update!
NTR's Deputy Marshal, Lenny Harland, has hired the Roadhouse Band to play Friday and Saturday evening at the encampment. (For those of you that attended the convention banquet, this is the band that played that evening.) The members of the band have long been involved in historical reenactments and are looking forward to setting up camp at the range. The band performs period music for special events at museums and historical reenactments. We are excited about this added attraction to the encampment next month! The evenings should be as much fun as the daytime activities (or maybe more!) You can read about the band on their web site:  www.roundhousebluegrass.com

I think he's about a 34 or 36.  Bring 'em with you and we'll try 'em out.

RCJ, glad you're getting excited about attending, but there's no pre-registration. Participants will simply sign up when they arrive on Friday or Saturday morning.

We're thinking tent city will look pretty awesome. We're looking forward to a great time Friday and Saturday evening around the campfire listening to some good music and visiting with friends once again. These are the times that memories are made of!

It's been a long winter and we are looking forward to opening up the range next Saturday and get a head start on getting targets set. The encampment starts one month from tomorrow.

My, home E-Mail is down, but why don't folks give me a PM if they are planning to come so I can get a rough head count.
