NTR will be hosting an Old West Encampment Event April 28-29-30 at Gun Fire in the Hills Range near Logan, Iowa. This is an NCOWS sanctioned event and will follow all NCOWS rules on equipment and dress. Camping on the range must be period correct and camp can be set up anytime after high noon on Friday. Camping for non-period tents and campers will be available across the dam. Saturday will consist of a 6-scenario main match plus side matches. Side matches will include tomahawk & knife throws, best poker hand (shooting cards), etc. Food will be provided by Delmonico. There will be campfires on Friday and Saturday evening. Camps can be broke up anytime on Sunday morning. Camping and shooting fee is $20 for the weekend. Shooting fee without camping is $10. Non-NCOWS or non-NTR members will add $5 to fee. No pre-registration. Registration will be Saturday morning 8:00-9:30; mandatory shooters' meeting at 9:45.

We have requested this information to be placed on the NCOWS web site and in THE SHOOTIST; however, since we don't know how soon this information will be available on those venues, we are posting the information here to start getting the word out.

Contact us for any further information on this weekend encampment at ntranger@radiks.net and/or download our flier.

Just so it is known, anyone wanting to learn dutch oven cooking is welcome in the cook camp to watch, ask questions and learn.  Also any one with a dutch oven in need of seasoning work feel welcome to bring it along.  I put wire on the bail and lid to tell who's is who, part of supper just might come out of your oven, proving it ain't defective. ;D

I will mention my pard, Matt "Gopher Grease" Moore will be along also.  We are equals in the cook camp with our own special nitch.  Many met him at the GAF Muster, he is the best DU dessert man I've ever met with mine being yeast breads and the main dishes are divieded up between us with our own specialty being certain items.

Outstanding!!  Do we need to preregister? Is the camp fee / camp or camper, ie Michele and I camp together?

Trap,
No, there is no pre-registration. We are keeping the admin part of this shoot as simple as our monthly matches. Registration will be Saturday morning 8:00-9:30, with a shooters' meeting to follow. As a matter of fact, campers can register for the shoot when they show up on Friday and register to camp. That way you won't have to register on Saturday with all the folks that just come on Saturday to shoot.

The camp fee is per camp. In other words you would pay $10 to shoot, Michele would pay $10 to shoot, and you would pay a $10 camping fee (total of $30).

We'll look forward to seeing both you and Michele at the shoot (as well as next month at the convention!).

looks like we will have clean up the camper a little early this year.  Might not make it till Friday nite tho.  Can hardly wait!
Your friends might get me in a rush, but not before I turn your head into a canoe, ya understand me?

Ornery Orr

Cinda and I will be there.  Probably won't camp tho'.  I wanted to get a bed roll and sleep under the stars, but the wife wouldn't let me.  I'll have some camp chairs at the convention (both styles) for anybody that thinks they'll be needing one.

Delmonico

Get a cavas tarp and some blankets pard, you can roll it out in the cook area, I'll 'splain it to yer wife as to why you need to do that. ::) ::)

I've never been to a NCOWS event.  Would an old Riverboat Gambler fit in?  I shoot a pair of RVs, Browning 92 and 311 SxS 20ga, all with black powder.  I've got the tent and the duds.
