CASCity = Slow as molasses.

I've surfed the internet for a lot of years on my phone with no problems till now.
EVERYPLACE I go is nice and fast and essentially instant page loading except for CASCity. It is incredibly slow here seemingly taking 30 seconds to load a page.

Tried different browsers but no change. Can't believe it's like this for everyone.
Some setting maybe? Any tips?

John, I think it is you who has the problem. I have no problem with the site. It looks and acts as always. Have you changed something with your phone?

No changes - that I'm aware of. And everything else is fine.
I get it's probably on my end but why only this page out of the hundreds (thousands?) that I have gone to over the years. Oh well

It's always been slow to open the page at first for me, but after it's open, works just fine.

Gotta define "slow." I personally don't define 30 seconds as being "slow." Unless your timing Usane Bolt, or waiting for Coffee Water to Boil.

I will qualify however, I haven't personally experienced any "slow." CASCity has been working just fine. I don't, however, consider surfing the Web onna "Phone" to be real practical inna first place. At least not without a Sherlock.

Now that you mention it, when I am not at home and therefore the phone is not on wifi, sometimes the same happens to me, takes longer to open that 1st page than some other sites, but then is fine.

Ah My Daer Netizens .....

As is sooften the case, my answer is

1) "It Depends" and
2) Your milage may vary

The speed of loading webpages depends more upon your connection to the web, then your device, and finally
the web server itself.

The first thing to look at, as John Spartan tried is "look at other pages"

When "other people" report no problems then it is usually at the user end.

If "other pages" work fine it is possible the "other pages" are cached and thus dont need to load completely.
I usually look at 1) the device, then 2) the service.

If an android , download and run an app called CCleaner. It is available in a free version
and cleans out ra, excess crap, andsone other bad juju

If it is your service, there ARE TWO MAJOR ISSUES: WiFi and Cellphone, and throttling .
One needs to see WiFi will always be faster, surfing via cell connection is as slow as you state.
Lastly, the service may be throtlling your connection.

The only way to troubleshoot all this is to have multilpe devices with multiple connection and
my little 'toolbox on a thumbdrive" with tools for troubleshooting.

BTW now that I am retired, I charge nothing if I really really like you,
$200 per hour if I am on the fence about you and
$600 an hour portal to portal if I dont care for you much at all.

if I hate you , well , you can guess.

I am most pleased to see you have taken a similar tack to Retirement. I am also oft Buffaloed to return to my previous professional status. I was forced to take pains.

1). Would you take a look?? = Looking is 50 Bucks

2). What's wrong with it?? = Looking for 50 Bucks, touching additional 100 Bucks

3). Can you fix it?? Looking - 50 Bucks, touching add 100 Bucks, Providing and estimate add another 200 bucks.

4). Answer Questions = 200 bucks

5). Give correct answers = 500 bucks

6). Actually fix something = Priceless as I don't do that anymore. I'm retired now

Bringing this topic back, as for the last week or two this site has been very slow to load for me, both on phone and laptop, but only "sometimes" and then other times is back to quick as usual. Anybody else lately?

Well in this particular instance, it's not your imagination. There really are Spots in front of yer Eyes. I must concur, the performance of CAS City has been quite "spotty" of late. Oft quite slow to load pages, change pages, load replies, that sort of thing. Then out of the blue, it's Zippidy doo da and away we go. Currently, today, is molasses.

I don't imagine it is all of our issues $:-\$
Not to mention the influx of AI and spammers since Host sites changed.

I have been having web problems on my IPad, Iphone and windows laptop.
Slow loads, "no loads" and or slow response to pushing a button.

Not just on CAS city either.

Speedtest (from here) https://www.speedtest.net/
Shows I have a good connection

I will do a bit of troubleshooting and get back to you, after I find an ffl to recv my Sharps
That is
1) within 45 miles of me
B) Is an actual brick and mortar , not soem guys house or lord forbid, apartment
III) charges less than $50 for a transfer!!!

On another note, I just picked up a new all-in-one Lenovo Desktop with Windows 11. Big difference from my ten-year-old Windows 10 computer. Great deal from Best Buy.

Agree. Never seen the "Loading" header until now. Very slow.

Ok it appears to be the CasCity server software.

Pings and traceroutes to the hosting server show good/fast response times

Using different computers and 3 different browsers it takes the website between 20 and 45 seconds to load the basic forum index.

I am going to see if i can find my remote web analyzer software .
The problem is often either the underlying java code or ....
