Morning folks, may God bless today. Del, you and Rita in the prayers here. Since the start of October has been a spate of minor weirdness around the place. Thankfully, nothing major, just enough to make life interesting. Anyway, 65 here right now supposed to hit 79 today with rain tomorrow and temps dropping. Hope it will be dry by Saturday so I can shoot. Work has been busy, main Deer Season starts Saturday so the shop is closed! Screwed up my back pretty good two weeks ago rescuing a fox who hung around here. I would throw him bits of hot dog when he came around. Anyway two Tuesdays past, I came out of my garage to find him trapped in one of those sticky traps used for bugs and mice, he had gone after a mouse trapped on it. If it had been anything but this little guy, I would have just put it down as both front paws and muzzle were really stuck in the pad. I grabbed some leather gloves and a moving mat, finally caught the little guy and while holding him down on the truck's tailgate, managed to get both paws free with out too much trouble, but his muzzle was completely stuck. SO I had to just rip the pad off like a big band aid! He tears loose and rips into the bed of the truck, quivering like a squirrel on meth. I go into the house and grabbed a bit of turkey to try to lure him out but he was already on the other side of the driveway, staring at me. Guess he was trying to figure out what just happened. Haven't seen the little guy since, hope he's okay and continues keeping the mouse population in check around here.

You are good man Sir.... There are those that would just blast him >:(
I don't care to associate with those types, mind you I'm not a card carrying PITA
PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS.
But I also don't or won't tolerate mistreatment of GODs creatures.

Sorry about your back, but you'll get your reward  :) I hope you feel better, and good shooting.

Heading out to run some errands, need Horse feed, and battery for the glass shatter house alarm detector.
So, the Farm & Ranch & ACE Hardware.
Beats setting here watching Barge Cement dry on a holster project.

I mentioned in "Gun a Holic" Planets aligned and I traded for VERY cool Sauer & Sohn M1913 semi Auto.
It joins a modest collection of WW 1 & WW 2 Axis & Allies' side arms.

Got the original holster too, so I'm making a replica of it now.  " hence the watching Barge Cement dry"

DEL ...I'll call you tonight.  :)

An off day, she has an appointment tomorrow and then nothing for either till Monday.

Enjoyed 1" thick pork chops on the grill from our local Amish Market. Washed down with some of Milwaukee's finest, followed by a buck and a quarter ceegar. Sitting with my bride and listening to 50's rock & Roll. Yesterday was our 59th anniversary. The woman deserves a trophy for putting up with this old ****.

Rough day today, had to put my daughters dog down, We've had him since he was a puppy,(A rescue dog from Alabama) He was 12 years old and a couple days ago he stopped eating and couldn't get up to walk. He'll be missed. Pictures from the day we brought him home and today before he left for the last time

Major E A Sterner, I know how rough it is to have to put suffering pets down to save them the pain. I'm sorry for having to be the strong one to take care of it, but I'm sure your daughter is thankful.

Craziness, A 54-year-old guy crashed his car into a Gun Shop in Town last night and killed himself.

BTW this not my Friend LGS, but his is only about 3 miles away.
The Guy crashed his car to gain entry, took a gun, loaded it and committed suicide.
It happened about 3:30 AM and that is all that's reported so far.

Morning all.

Condolences for the dog, Major. That one hurts.

Been real busy out here the past few weeks. Doing a lot of prescribed fires in places that are just plain inconvenient to get to. We don't get hazard pay for prescribed fire, but do get OT as necessary, so I'll take it. And it's given me a lot of opportunity to complete my FireFighter 1 and Incident Commander Type 5 qualifications. Once I get those, I'll get promoted to GS-5, and also take over as Assistant Fire Engine Operator. So at least all my hard work will be fore something.

I'm on a 4 day weekend starting today. Considering I've worked almost 700 hours of overtime since May, it feels like an earned holiday.

In shooting news, I'm heading to the SLGS (Semi local gun store) on Saturday to send a new gun to California Gun Purgatory. I'm in the mood for a 44magnum, so we'll see what we can pull off. I'm leaning toward a S&W M29 4", or Ruger Super Blackhawk 5.5". I intend to use it for deer/bear hunting next year with Skeeter-esque 44Special loads (7.5 grains Unique, 225gr Barnes XPB bullet, should give about 950-1100fps). We'll see how that cookie crumbles.

Were it me I'd go with the Ruger, less money and does a 44 mag really need a double action?

Major, my condolences to you and to your family.
Looking at a lot of hours from now til May at the gunshop, hoping my back will hold up. Still no sign of the fox, hope he shows up again. Lady C ordered me a Victrola for my Christmas present, it showed up today and is really nice. Can't wait to dig out my old Christmas albums.

18 hours later and there is still little to know.
It's even kinda hard to find anything in print as yet.

St. Cloud police
Jerry Brown is the CEO of The Gun Store in Downtown St. Cloud.

He says with roll-down shutters along the doors, crash prevention measures in the back of the store, and a significant security system, his building is very secure.

"This is one of the most secure buildings in all of Central Florida that does what we do," he said.

Around 3:30 in the morning Thursday, a car still managed to crash into the store.

"I pulled up a live feed from inside the store and I saw a car in the middle of the showroom," Brown said.

St. Cloud's Chief of Police, Douglas Goerke, tells us it was intentional.

"When officers arrived here, they arrived here very quickly, were able to get inside, and determine that a vehicle had actually driven inside," he said.
He says what happened before the crash is still being investigated.

What happened after is a lot of cleanup.

Brown says they're working quickly to enhance security even more and make repairs for the families that depend on it.

"This is tremendously hurting us, tremendously. We just went into season. It was a bad summer, not a lot of disposable income out there and the summer was as rough as they get and then this occurs right when we begin our season," Brown said.

Police tell us the driver of the SUV took their life after the crash.

If you or anyone you know is struggling, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24-7.

That number is 988.

The Police Substation located at 923 New York Ave, Saint Cloud, FL is literally, a block away on the same Street and the City Hall is another
50 yards away.
Police had to hear the crash and respond in one record hurry.  :o

The Guy (Jerry Brown) that owns the Gun Shop, builds modular AK's, AR's using aftermarket custom components.
He also has an online kydex holster & Conceled Carry holster line.

Eh ! well there's something weird going on  :o  cause there were 3 other suicides (two of which were murder/suicide) here last night.  :o
And two fatal hit and runs within a mile of one another.

Only Bridge is a Turnpike overpass, and Cliff ? what's that ?, this is Florida !  we got the occasional sink hole.  ???

Major Sterner, my sympathies with the dog.
Slim, glad yours is doing better.
Strange day for suicides I guess.  My coworker went out on a coroner call today; young man had parked out by the river and shot himself.  It was someone I had charged a few years ago.  Second person under 21 this year that I was involved with that shot himself.
Del, still praying for you guys.
Y'all hang in there, and as I remember Roy Rogers saying, until we meet again, may the good Lord take a likin' to ya.  (Not that I'm that old, but I idolized him as a kid anyway.)
