That's going to be a nice one. Bum deal about the hand slowing you down.

I'm somewhat my own worst critic...

This is the first attempted copy, I can't duplicate the fine stitching, and the pattern is a bit oversized,
resulting in this 1st one a bit off.
It works, but not quite there yet....

Looks pretty good. That pebble grain leather does have the right look.

If you want it to have more of that original appearance, you could trim the leather closer to the stitch line now that it's already stitched. Not close enough for the stitches to break out but just to reduce the amount of leather outside of them.

If you make another one, smaller stitches could help, too. Not as small as the original but maybe 2/3 the size of the ones you just did. Any smaller and you'd need smaller thread. And 18 year-old eyes. ;D

Yeah, eyes would help, I already have trimmed the main seam and added the post.
In this photo it is complete, it was actually drying, and the edge had not been trimmed or burnished in the dual photo.

That looks great! Trimming the edge did the trick. This could pass for an original. So the stitches are longer. That isn't a detraction. Love that leather. Nice job.

Thanks, never say never, but acquisitions are somewhat stymied as mad stash funds are curtailed.
Since I retired, I find my sock drawer mainly houses just socks :) course there is lint.
But I best not lint it to myself, as it were   ;)

Now days I window shop and IF I do stumble across a treasure, it's trade or sell something I might rather not.   :-\
The 3 Guns that were consigned were the Baby Browning, a S&W .32 Double-Action, and the "now mine" Sauer.
I traded a used Beretta 950 Jetfire  :D for the Sauer in even trade I'm still smiling about !!!
The Baby sold and The Smith is still languishing and overpriced IMHO.

I am near completion of the 2nd. version...The 1st. I'll call my prototype.

I have tightened up my hand stitching a bit and trimmed the pattern some.
So far, it has been a plus  :)

Perusing eBay for the occasional vintage holster, mostly looking for one to go with a piece I own.

I see these similar European military at price ranging from $38- $125...
The designs did not alter all that much from the Great War small side arms.

The second below is dated Oct 1973
the 4th is for the Yugoslavian Military Zastava M 70
These are not mine, just samples of eBay offerings.

If it fits, it sits!  No need to change a design that does the job.

Latest acquisition is this  CZ 52 Tokarev officers holster.
I saw it mis-identified on eBay, seller stated it was for a S&W revolver  ???
I knew it was an officer CZ 52 Tokarev holster.

I have yet to rub in Skidmores, but it is quite supple & in remarkable condition.
Shown here with my Tokarev pistol.

Skidmore's is the best I've found for old leather. It must be outstanding, now.

It works wonders with old wooden tool handles, too.

First photo on the first page....... holster to the right of the paddle holster on the left. Would love a pattern for that one. Cool looking holster.
