I have a lot of resources that I have borrowed/saved going back to when Old Scout was on here when it was the CAS-L. I am no gunsmith though but am an experienced tinkerer like many here who have learned by their mistakes. It starts when you get your first C&B and a Dremel. ;D

The word "Dremel" should never be used in a statement regarding gunsmithing.

Well, I made my first one in 1995, have been shooting them since then.   Until 2016, it was my only type of pistol, have since added two conversion cylinders for Remingtons.    In all that time, I have had 1 chain fire that emphatically know was from poor fitting caps, have had 1 hangfire when I was experimenting with paper cartridges (have moved to Guns of the West kit, awesome) and periodically will use wonder wads, especially when shooting all day, I think they help keep fouling limited, some don't, either way, they fall in that category (paraphrasing Jack Elam), "Don't mind if I shoot, it makes me feel better".   I seriously like the Colt design for cap and ball over the Remington, mainly the groves in the cylinder pin.   I am not experienced with conicals, have always shot balls.  That may not make me a guru, but like Tyrion, I drink coffee and know stuff.

My playthings since Jr High 😆 I have a goodly number of clean SASS & NCOWS matches behind me, mostly using C&B revolvers..but, that could just be a fluke.

Regarding use of a Dremel (or any tool)..my best advice is borrowed from Detective Harry Callahan - a man's got to know his limitations.

Stuff, like, are CCI caps worth a damn? Is there a falling cap fix ( saw Mike "Duke" Venturio's video on this).

R Rio,
CCI are OK. They are just not as forgiving as the Remington caps as to how many different makes of nipples they will fit. The CCIs as well as the RWS are fairly stiff in the shank and are harder to swage onto the nipple while seating if the nipple is a bit big compared to the Remington cap that is scalloped on the mouth and will more easily swell to grip the cap. I have 16 C&B for now (have owned about 35) and by swapping out the nipples with Uncle Mike's or Butler Creek nipples ALL 16 will fit the Remington #10 which is close in size to the CCI #11 or the RWS #1075 (AKA #11). The RWS #10 is way too small to have ever fit any gun I've owned. About 1/3 of my guns will accept the CCI#11 and another 1/3 will accept the RWS #11. The only gun I have that will fire the CCI#10 is my Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon which has a hammer fall like a musket. It will smash anything. I've only replaced the nipples on about 1/3 of my guns, the rest are stock.

As for cap fall, I'm not sure what you mean.

A cap post and an action shield is a good combination.
