Has anyone ever used a proper Richards ejector in conjunction with a Kirst converter on an 1860 pattern pistol? Any one have experience in fitting the Richards ejector to the 1860 barrel?  Got an idea it would be a neat looking combo......... ;D

Not an 1860 but an 1861, but using the same ejector with a Kirst.  Raven (Jay Strite) built this gun so I can't say how much fitting may have been involved, but it looks good and works good.

Abilene, that's a good looking shooter to be su
re, just had an idea that a proper Richards ejector would look good on the 60 conversion......

Yes it would, unless you just like the look of the rammer still in place, which some do.  The Uberti Type II's have the proper Richards style ejector assembly, which is why they cost more than a Richards-Mason.  Fitting that ejector flush into the rammer slot takes extra manufacturing time.  The Kirst is recessed just a bit in the rammer hole on the very bottom, with a setscrew to secure it.

I guess for me, you would have to define "proper Richards Ejector."  I have built several 1860 Conversions for myself and others and found the Kirst ejector assembly to be pretty close to correct.  There is a portion of the mount not quite correct that requires a fair amount of grinding and filing to fit (way too much trouble) and the thumb button is a tad large, but at 6 feet, looks quite the biz.

;D This is a proper Richards ejector, yes, the Kirst is kinda close, and would be sufficent for the intended purpose, just think a proper one would look better, and add a certain amount of cool factor to make them different.

;D Abilene, got the Uberti ejector coming, will see what I think when I have it in hand.
