....awright, before I do something stupid. Just trying to make sure I'm on the correct path. The FMJ match round measures the prescribed 3.34 over all length. I built a dummy round with the Hunter Supply 152gr cast bullet with a flat tip. . In order for the round to properly feed and extract. My oal for the cast bullet is 3.15. For anyone that has used this bullet, am I in the ballpark. Just concerned about excessive pressures in these old weapons.

Bob, could you put each of the projectiles lined up with the tip of respective bullet tip... that should show you how much space is in the case, by looking at where the projectile is sitting in the case neck you should be able to see if you have compressed the space a whole bunch or not.
A day shooting is good for what ails ya!

....Michael, here is that view.....the .015 or so of the FMJ match shell is the tip. Actually the body of the cast bullet is just a hair fatter.

...thanks, judging by your bullets, that length will be fine. I'm going to use 17gr of 4227 with a standard primer. Build a few and go to the range and try them next week. Busy this week with our annual rendevous. Need to order some stripper clips.

The bullet shown is a Missouri Bullet Co. product. the photo was taken some time in 2020.

Also had some Hunter Supply (un-coated) thru 2021, but when (early 2022) they were out of stock.
I gave Penn Bullets a call early in February 2022, I ordered a 90 grain .310 for my C96
and a 165 grain .310 for my 03.
I had to call several times as the order was not shipped. I was assured though he had been ill, he was up and running. he said he had no help and had so far failed to find someone.
I understand his wife handled shipping.
What I did not know, Bob Palermo, owner of Penn Bullets was quite ill, and then sadly deceased.
However, I did get my order about July.
I believe John Mullady and Bob's Widow followed through, now though the Website is still up,
there is no content and no way to place an order, short of appointment it states.  :-\
This a shame the bullets are first rate quality and hi-tech coated.

My loads with Trailboss are under 1400 fps so though I have some Hunter Supply w/ GC's it isn't necessary.

Penn on the left, then GC Hunter Supply and Missouri Bullets on the Right.

How sad.  I hadn't talked with Bob for probably 10 -12 years.  Use to do a lot of bullet business with him as he was a local guy.  Was completely unaware he had passed.
