Is anyone currently making a SASS-legal rifle in .38-40 (.38WCF) other than the Uberti 1873 short rifle?  I am looking for a second rifle in that caliber and I would like to get something different from the 73 that I already have (I'm funny that way.)

There is the Uberti 1866.  Not a whole lot different than the '73, but that's one.  20 and 24" rifles and 19" carbine.

Doesnt look like they are currently offering it in anything but .45 Colt or .38 special.  I know Chiappa used to make a 92 in .38-40 (and since I want it for Wild Bunch --a 92 would be just fine.) but that doesn't appear to be offered right now.  I see a few original 92s on GB, but the condition of those is a crap shoot.

You are looking at generic Uberti offerings.

Cimarron still carries the '66 in 32wcf, 38wcf, 44wcf, 44 Spcl, 38 Spcl, 45 Colt.  Here's one:

Of course, finding one in stock or waiting on a list is another matter.

Doc Holloman,

I did this same 'hunt and search' thing two years ago.  The answers I received were what you are looking at now.

Back then, the only rifles 'available' in 38/40 were the 1866.  So, to satisfy my desire for an 1892 design -- it was find a Rossi '92 Octagon Rifle 'specifically in 44/40' and have it lined to 38/40 or buy an original Winchester.  In the end, I got luck and found an original in March of 2022, that I could afford.

But then in June of 2022, a shipment of 1873's in 38/40's came into the US.  Dixie offers these 1873's.

Good luck in your search.
