Is there anyone manufacturing 44 colt/russian for our conversions? If I can get the powder and caps, I have a lot of brass. I have a couple of friends that can reload for me. What are some good powders?

DeaconKC

I would think that Unique would be a great starting powder.

Blackpowder Burn

Black Hills manufactures both.  I'd reload, though, due to cost.  Unique is also my go to powder.

Everything where I checked Black Hills is out of stock and no back orders

Graveyard Jack

I use Titegroup because Unique doesn't meter right in my Uniflow with charges under 6gr.

I'd go with black powder.

Nah.  None Of The Above.  Give some serious thought to skipping smokeless and strongly consider APP.  3F APP is easy load.  The recipes are dead simple and Clean-Up is super easy.  Easier then smokeless.

I load APP in 44 Russian for my .44 Open Tops.  160 or 165Gr Bullets, 3F APP to the bullet base, Crimp and done.  No Lube required.  Or run with lubed, APP don't care.  Clean-UP with plain water, although I prefer PAM, which does the clean-up task quick and easy.

APP is readily available as well.  Give "Bullets By Scarlett" a call.  Scarlett can provide all the APP you can use, delivered to your door.

No.  I am not an APP salesman.

I load 44-40 with 3.5 grains of Red Dot and a 200 gr. Mav Duchman Big Lube bullet. It works great.

When I don't have Trail Boss, I use Unique, also.

As for loaded .44 Colt ammo, I got lucky and got 500 rounds of factory Load-X cowboy loads with Truth and Justice.  I have dies, primers, powder, and bullets to reload when those are gone.

Load-X is rebuilding their web page, but here is a link to the PDF catalogue.  They list .44 Colt cowboy for $350/500.
