"SHE" tested negative yesterday;  :D :D :D :D
the assumption is I am now also negative.
All symptoms have retreated, with the exception of some head congestion and a throat clearing mild cough,
from time to time.
Hopefully, I now have an acquired immunity that rebolstered the boosters I got last Fall.  :-\
I expect to take a Covid test tomorrow to confirm, and return Wednesday to the Museum, if I'm negative.

Today we remember, with honor & reverence the Great Crusade D-Day: 78 years ago.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are ready.

'Tis 52 and raining. "Cloudy. Light rain likely in the morning. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs in the upper 60s. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent."

I love the smell of Black Powder in the morning!

DeaconKC

Well done Major Sterner! And a Happy Belated Birthday to you.
65 and pouring rain here, supposed to get to 82 today, but I doubt it. Slept in, working on my second cup of coffee. Y'all take care and be safe.

Got up and took Blaze out, made a ham & cheese breakfast sandwich,
Had cup of coffee.

I'm slow cooking a pork loin for BBQ pulled pork for dinner, planning a roasted sweet potato too.

Happy June...

Hope all y'all have the A/C going.

I am starting a poll to decide  if you are southern or not.

Preference, RC  and Moon Pie or Goobers in your Coke?

Y'all have a safe summer

Major 2

Good to see you Roo... :)

I'm familiar with RC & a Moon Pie...just never developed a taste for it...
course I drink UN-Sweet iced tea, I suppose that's odd to a southerner  :-\
Don't care for any of the flavored tea either.

I was, in my youth a 'Pepper (Dr. Pepper)
But I haven't had a 'Pepper' or 'Coke' in years. Goober's in Ice Cream, but not Coke.

BBQ Loin & sweet potato was excellent, and enough leftover BBQ for sandwiches tomorrow.

Thunderstorm past through and drop temps about 15 degrees, still drizzling now.

RC is good, and I like the chocolate Moon Pies. Grew up in Chicago, but all my family is from the South, so I grew up with that kind of background.

Evening all.

I like my tea sweet enough to kill a dietician  ::). I've also been known to indulge in an RC and moon pie.

Todays agenda is rather uneventful. Hand out tools and go to a brief in a couple hours. Flight on Saturday went well. 15 hours in the plane, but the Joes down south at a few FOBs got their mail and some treats from the USO.

If we start from the South, had relatives in Huntsville AL on my mom's father's side:

Cousins down there (don't know first, second ...... or how many removals:

   Named Frankie and Bubba

Next toward the North would be relatives from both sides.  First in Vandalia IL. Then a tad more North to Altoona PA.  Both were county rather that city folk, so there was a detectable accent.

After that most of the clan moved to Southern WI and Southwest MI.  No accent to me.

I guess if I speak with an accent, it must be MUTT.

Coke meant Coca Cola, not just any soda.  (Have had a person in Mississippi ask me what flavor coke I wanted, long before all the cola soft drinks were coming in oddball flavors).

I liked root beer, we used to have Royal Castle, it was south Florida chain.
something of a White Castle and Chrystal Burger clone...
Anyway, they had Birch Beer, 5 cents in a frosted mug, the little sq. burgers (cooked with onions & a pickle)
for dime.
I'd get 3, and mug for 35 cents :) didn't get better than that as kid.
They are all gone now, the likes of Burger King, McD's were RC's ruination, and the fact that the corp. head embezzled.
But that frosted Birch Beer was a treat, and those little burgers.  :)

Coke too, never tasted better unless it was in one of the little 8oz green glass bottles.

Memories of youth, :) remember Clark Bars, & Baby Ruths's?
How about the little wax bottles of sweet colored liquid or maybe candy cigarettes?

Major 2,
there is a large candy store/manufacture on the highway between Omaha and Lincoln, Baker's Candies, that has a huge selection of all those nostalgia candies and sweets.
Necco wafers, the color sugar dots on paper, those miniature wax soda bottles filled with sugar water, etc.
Let me know what you might be interested in.

Very Kind of you John  :)

These days I tend to shy away from sugar  :(  once in a while though I find Cracker Barrel Restaurants
have the old brands.
Like Lemon Drops hard candys, and Clark bars.
They also carry Soft Drinks , like Sarsaparilla and Grape & Orange Nehi.
One can also find about all the nostalgic brands on Amazon.

Afternoon all.

My mom used to get those wax bottles for me and my siblings. I was the weird kid that would take the liquid out, then melt the wax and make miniature candles for starting campfires  ::)

Todays scheduled events include the same thing as always out here. Sitting around and handing out tools.

Rain and thunderstorms here all this week. Temps in the mid 80s and humid. Supposed to be dry this Saturday for our 2nd Saturday match, hope the range will be somewhat dry! Watching the Cards and Rays right now, pitchers duel going on.

Oh!  just recall another favorite, Peanut Butter Log...
Butterfingers & Hershey Bars (plain or Almond) are still easy to find most places.
and Red Hots, little red globs of Cinnamon goodness....

Ah... those were the days, ran ruck shod all over, armed with all manors of Mattel's, Nichols cowboy guns
or a Daisy BB gun. Perhaps it was a Burp Gun, no one blinked an eye.
We were barefoot, drank water from hose, climbed trees, skinned a knee and even played in the standing water after rainstorm, and street football.
We rode our bikes to school, said the pledge of allegiance and prayer each day....

Not a soap box, just great memories of a time now lost to Kids today  :'(
