Is USO coffee better than any other coffee?

Mucking out the paddock with the tractor and back blade. Curried the horses.

Slim

It's several orders of magnitude better than the Army chow hall coffee they've been giving us in NJ.

Regarding the horse curry, I haven't had to do any of that in two weeks. However, Mrs TK did three horses last night.

I made it to San Antonio yesterday. I'm staying about a block from where I went through basic training, and hearing the yelling going on is quite an experience on this side of my USAF career. Last night inside the gas station I had a relaxed conversation with an MTI, which is the first time that's happened for me. Kind of weird.

Despite people claiming the world is going to hell in a handbasket, all politics are crooked, the world is getting warmer or colder, at least the climate is going to change, people killing each other in wars, criminals are everywhere, all stuff that has been going on before recorded time, and now just lately the Yuppies want to put dill pickles on everything and are starting to cause shortages. ::)

You can't even turn on the radio in the car because Top 40 music sucks.

Well there is hope, an Eagle, a Black Crow and a Beatle singing with Ray Wiley Hubbard, the sun will come up another day. ;D

Afternoon all.

First day of training in San Antone was a success. That's about all there is to say on that topic.

Regarding music, I've been listening to Charley Pride over dinner. To answer one of his more famous questions, I did indeed go to San Antone, though Phoenix is out of the question right now.

Bread, chili and fried cabbage out of the kitchen today, last 2 a dangerous combo so it went in a bowl to rest, had some hydro tomatoes gave to us and Rita is on a low acid diet for a while, cancer scare, all fine but she has been eating to many maters, oranges and drinking to much Coke.  I found a year old vacuum sealed piece of cow to cut up and had onins and the spices, better than moldy tamaters, they stink. ;D

Ate some cabbage, got plenty to bag, did 3 heads in the 20" skillet. Promised my wife it would go back downstairs out of the way, but no maybe not.  Fried cabbage is a favored side dish of mine and not hers or the kid.  So I have it to microwave when I want it.

Nope, no beans, no elbow mac, no pineapple, no nothing that don't belong in pain simper 19th century chill, no green peppers of any kind, no bell peppers and no tofu or lentils, had to endure on time to be polite.   Also no store bought chili powder, 2 parts cumin, 1 each coriander, oregano and black pepper and 2 parts smoked paprika for color and a couple glops of my latest invention.  Very good, took 2 months but it quit bubbling, crushed common chilies often called japones  and the pequins and some smoked paprika for color also, brewed in Seville orange juice aka bitter/sour orange juice to get away from the vinegar taste.

Slow steady progress on the stalls rehab, acre of new paddock fence with gates & hotwire is installed.

Several cribbed-on boards are replaced, and I installed another gate to the backside paddock.

All that's left is everything else... Drive and connect the ground rod (elec. fence) and energize, I was waiting 3-4 days for the solar panel to charge the battery. A new ridge cap (someone younger, sprier and lighter to do that project, I'll supervise  :) )
The horse comes home at the end of the Month... already found out the wife and daughter are traveling
I get to feed detail twice a day for a week in May  ::) ) I figured that was coming  :-*

I also THOUGHT I was past horsing around at may age, I was pretty much finished, stove-up and put away wet several years ago.

Been going full bore (for me ;D) for 3 days, taking it easy today, just making steak and baked taters for wife for her birthday.

River City John, just thought about this today, you remember giving it to me?  Often used item in my kitchen.

Morning all.

Texas is still Texas, it would appear. Currently 75 degrees and 50% humidity as of 0500 local time. I'm only here for another day and a half, which suits me just fine. I miss my mountains and my "normal roommates."

Kinda, but this is just like slices of white bread you pull off, monkey bead is like a cinnamon roll that one got lazy making.

Kinda slow day today at the U See Um,
though we do have small Desert Storm veterans reunion having good ol time in the auditorium.

There was a Brit in earlier , from Nottingham, UK he told me a story when he was just a lad.
A P-51 pilot, forced landed in his grandfathers field.
They helped him, and he gave them a sign cap, he has had it some 80 years.
He said when he gets home he will "post it to me for the Museum" and I asked he write the story up , and offered my many thanks.
That is a cool piece of History and personal account.  :)
