Major 2

I got a call from my frendly LGS last Friday to come check out and appraise a few guns in a collection.
I was working at the Museum Friday & Sat., the LGS is closed Sun. & Mon. so today is my go to....

I don't know what the collection is yet, but I'll report back.

Edit: I'm back, something of a sad sight.
The collection was a 1941 Walther P38 w/ Waffen marks numbers matched.
A Ruby semi-automatic pistol of .32 ACP caliber made by Gabilondo y Urresti
and a  Smith & Wesson Model 1 ½ spur trigger top break revolver, .32 caliber, 3" barrel.

Sadly all three were rattle can painted simi gloss black.
The checkered wood Grips on the Ruby were covered in polyurethane
Both scales on the S&W were missing chips and one was cracked clear thru,
The P-38 might clean up, no clue what you'd find finish wise under it though?
(I'd strip the paint on all 3 and said so)
I'm sure the fellow that brought them in, will not like the low appraisal I gave for them.
But, it is what it is, Bubba -uped as they are  ::)  Not for the faint of heart, evert your eyes  :o

Oh! the P-38 had a holster (owner though was original) well it is, post-war German police issue.
You see them on eBay, for time to time.

Windy here, got to pack some leftovers up, got the 20" out of the basement and cleaned it up.  Needs to go back to the basement before I run out of freezer space. ::)

Made some whole wheat tonight, not bad, low humidity made the top try to go artisan on me. ;D  Some water and olive oil saved it.  ::)

Afternoon all.

Weather decided to give me one last nice day in Missoula before I get sent to the east coast. 60 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and a gentle breeze coming up the Clark Fork.

Now that I'm finished waxing poetic, I've spent the morning organizing the bills that require a true bank check in the mail so the Mrs. TK just has to place a stamp on the envelope and drop it in the box. It was quite a bit of work. Then the water on was spent packing and repacking my bags.

Major 2,
my guess is that they were clunkers used for theatrical productions and painted black for the stage?

Major, tell the guy to soak them in Pinesol overnight, it should soften the paint up without destroying whatever blue might be left under the paint.

Been with my nephew and his family, spoiling the girls and getting lots of hugs. Discovered that getting Play-dough out of little girls hair can take a little time... :D

D, I did not offer any suggestions, other than estimate value...

The Ruby was not all that and has only minor interest to collectors.
The S&W shows some deep pitting under the paint, again no real major value there either.
I suggested the realistic values @ $100 for the Ruby and $100 for the Smith in that contrition.

Both of these are offered on the LGS Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Signalzerosupplies/

The P-38 might be worthy of removing the paint, I believe I'd go Mineral Spirits and/or acetone.
I don't see it offered, someone in the shop may have picked it up.
I was a bit more generous in it wholesale value.
I'll inquire,   update the P -38 sold for $500 ( right within the price I suggested $450-500 )

Thank you, Sir I am enjoying it  :) :)

I'm hoping to find more items to open a display covering
Tribute to the American Indian and the Wars 1865-1890...

Currently, I have just a few items, not enough for an exhibit yet  :(

Update:  I have started the Native American War Era tribute
and added to the WW1 exhibit .

Dang Major :(   hope no one was hurt.   Doesn't look like the frame is bent? or radiator is involved.
Just inner bumper bent back, Hood, the plastic nose and headlights affected,
hopefully it can be repaired.
Nevertheless, it sucks wish you best of luck.
