The storm front that beat on Louisiana Tuesday passed here yesterday afternoon, had pretty much petered out by the time it reached here.
More is in the forecast today with rain @ 70% and 20% on Friday, and a cool down following.

I am taking the Museum portable presents to the Battle of Narcoossee Mill Saturday
http://battleatnarcoosseemill.com/

This event is in its 28th annual cycle, my late Friend John Holmes and I originally planned the event with
the Jacob Summerlin SCV camp in 1993.
Looks like a fun event.

Sunny and 56° headed to 77°, cookie cutter day of yesterday.
Spent Saturday at the Narcoossee Battle reenactment with the portable Museum exhibit.
I retired from mounted ACW reenacting in 2002, I felt after some 26 years and @ 53 years young
enough.
Course I still rode, and I have CAS,so the bug still is present, though I no longer participate in ACW.

But as I sat there, I watch a somewhat newer generation of ACW reenactors and to my amazement many old and decidedly portly gents still taking the field.
One such was by his admission, 86  :o  ( course he was in a period civilian frock & vest, a noncombatant ) accompanied by his wife, also dressed to the nines in period attire, hoop dress and bonnet.
On the other hand, a young confederate fellow of 16, stopped by the exhibit with 2 of his like uniform pards, young fellows still entering the hobby.
The number of reenactors were down, but the enthusiasm seems to be alive and well and the hobby continues.
One of the quite interesting folks I met was a Black man, Mr. H.K. Edgerton dressed as a Confederate waving the Battle flag
and member of the Sons of Confederate Veterains.
In fact, he and Nelson Winbush* (grandson & namesake of a Confederate Veteran Louis Napoleon Nelson that rode with Nathan Bedford Forrestt ) are both members of the host SCV camp of the reenactment.
History IS still alive.   Saturday's Exhibit and Sunday's Exhibit

*Nelson Wyman Winbush (born 1929) is an educator who is notable as one of a handful of African-American members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), and for his controversial views, such as his support of the modern display of the Confederate flag.

I've known "Coach" Nelson Winbush for 30+ years, he coached Football & baseball at Osceola High for 41  years.

Nelson has been a thorn ( for GOOD ) in the side of the Anti's dissing Confederate history for some 90 years  :)
I've seen photos of him @ 5 years old with his Grandfather both in Gray uniform, at Confererate reunions.

Note: the similar but different two mobile traveling Museum exhibits for veterans events,  Etc.

Had a couple rough days, had to have full anesthesia for colon check, but doing it that way keeps me from having to do it twice if they have problems with me screaming. ::)  Then a med change, pulse was way up and BP, BP is fine now but pulse is down to 100 or slightly less, better than the 140-150, slept most of Thursday and Friday.   One small polyp, should be ok will hear back soon.  Dr and I discussed it, may be the last one, we'll decide in 5 years, because if things ain't good they cure could be worse than the disease at that stage. :P  One of those life things you have to decide.

Fried cabbage and chili verde for me for supper, got some pork chops give to me as well as bacon and cabbage.  BIL had the pork and doesn't cook and no girlfriend to do it for him.  About 4 pounds of chops.  Had it at a local family owned place and had forgot how much I liked it and found a good sauce cheap.   Note also only little seeds from tomatillos, no big seeds from sneaking in green tomatoes.  Ain't from down south, won't eat no green maters.  :P

Rita is having lemon pepper chicken quarters with bacon on top, more free stuff, 8 quarters in two 15" skillets in the oven, not sure what she is having besides, told her it's on her.  Plenty of leftovers to bag and vacuum seal to microwave.   That's what I do when busy with other things or just feel crappy.

Doing candied orange slices and tart cherries for fun, will make a coffee cake out of the leftover flavored syrup.  Planning on another bread experiment tomorrow if things are going good.  Once it gets going the new meds should help and dropped 10 pounds or so this month, I was 276 this morning, down from 295 at the first of the year.  I think that is going to help, hoping to get to the gym this week and start pedaling on one of those cloths hanger things. ;D
