Greeting All.
I've been busy attending shoots and haven't spent much time on here lately.
Question - I've owned an Uberti model 1866 since 1986 and the hammer spring is a real beast. It hasn't loosened up in 18 years. I just sold an Original model 1876 and the action on that was smooth as can be. Does anyone out there know if you can get after market springs for tuning the Uberti Model 1866?

Howdy Jim!
My 1866 is pretty smoth - no complaints, really.  We'll have to compare 'em next weekend at Fort Kusk - I assume you'll be there?

Hey Rattlesnake - I'll be at Ft Kusk. I've talked to a gunsmith in Ontario I've known for a while and he thinks that seing as my 66 was made around 1984 that the spring may be one of the early ones. He is sending me a replacement and says I can mess around with it to see if I can lighten it a bit if it isn't like that already.

Camile - Does the Cowboys and Indians Store have a website?? I'll do a search and see if I can find it. Thanks

Yep.   ;Dhttp://www.cowboysandindianstore.com/page3.html

I would call them though.  I'm pretty sure that they have more parts than they have listed.

Also Brownells has the trigger spring here.  http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/Store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=13910&title=TRIGGER+SPRING

Well I'm back from the Alberta shoot now.
Thanks for the information John Boy. I managed to get a replacement spring from a gunsmith friend of mine in Ontario. He lightened the spring for me and it dropped right into the "66" - It reduced the cocking pressure by about a third. I'm very happy with it.

Thanks all for your information. For those interested I post my shoot pics to the sight below:
