Sewing 1872 chevrons....

In my never ending quest to drive myself crazy, I have taken an interest in the 1872 pattern chevrons.
Does anybody have details on how they were sewn onto the sleeve? I've got placement down. I'm just wondering what y'all are doing as far as sewing them on.
How are you folding the ends under, type or color of thread. You know, the usual thing.
