General:

Now that the Registrations for the Canadian Contingent have been submitted and accepted, I feel safe in asking if you are able to post the numbers registered so far?

For those of you who might have some slight interest, the Canadian Contingent will number three shooters this year!  (All from Medicine Hat, Alberta ... a detachment from The Rocky Mountain Rangers, No. 4 Troop.)
Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885
Bvt. Col, Commanding International Dept. and Div.  of Canada, Grand Army of the Frontier

It's been a while since I counted, but off the top of my head, it has to be around 20. There is a large number of our regulars who never register until shortly before and, of course, I haven't heard from them. And I've heard from several this week who have said that they had just or were mailing their registrations the next day. We Do have several new participants registered. So, who knows, we might set another new record this year.  ::) I'll try to get an updated list posted this weekend.

Bat 2919

I won't make it this year, I have another match that same weekend.

I turned in my registration yesterday for the Battle of Adobe Walls in Pampa, TX.  This is the home of the High Plains Highwaymen, the closest cowboy club to me (45 miles away) that has become my home club.  Last year this match was the weekend before Land Run but with LR becoming the SASS National Championship and moving to October BofAW was moved to the last weekend in June.

To answer the next question I'm sure that will come up.  The Adobe Walls battle site is about 36 miles northeast of my house.  Yes, Bat was at the battle of adobe walls.

Another important place in Bat's life, Sweetwater or Hide town (now Called Mobeetie) where Bat was shot in the hip in a gunfight over a girl by the name of Mollie Brennan is 65 east of my house.

Bat, sorry to hear that you won't make it this year.
Maybe I should try "Handgunner" this year, I might have a chance now.  :-)

I am sorry to report that in a conversation with the new owners of the Wildlife Inn in Taylor, there was a miscommunication between the previous owners and the new owners resulting in the loss of our reservations for the last weekend in June and the booking of a family reunion that weekend. With the Wildlife being completely sold out I would recommend that if you had intended to stay there you should; A.) find another place to stay this year and, B.) call them and make reservations for the last weekend of June 2023

I think I still have a room reservation at the Comstock Lodge lodge that I'll need to call and cancel.  I learned that Emily who ran the lodge for the owners (and also made lunches for many of us for the last two years) has moved on. I don't know if she kept a written/computer record of reservations or if she kept them in her head.  If someone wants my room please let me know and hopefully we can get it transferred over to to you.
