Mean Matt McCord

As some of you may have read on another board, my daughter's dachshund passed away yesterday, due to complications from a ruptured hernia.  The vet tried emergency surgery to save him, but the damage had been done.

Candice had Marcus for almost 11 years, and he was just about the sweetest little dachshund you would ever want to meet...kind of like a beagle trapped in a weiner dog's body.  Needless to say, she is taking it very hard.  This couldn't have happened at a worst time of year with Christmas and all, not to mention that her birthday in Wednesday the 21st.

So iffn ya'll don't mind, remember her broken heart in your prayers tonight.  As usual, thanks in advance.

Mean Matt my sympathy for your daughter's loss. I will remember her in my prayers. I know it's especially hard on young ones to loose a loved pet, but even my own screensaver is made up of two pictures of dogs I lost within four months of each other. One after surgery and the other from old age. I still very much miss them both.

Scarlet Angel

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

We had a dog that had been in the family for 12+ years die of kidney failure once, that was hard for me then. I can only imagine how hard it must be for a kid to lose one. It's like losing a good friend. My prayers are with her.

Cherokee Charlie

Hey MM,
Been there and done it 5 times in 37 years with cats.  My wife and daughter cried for two weeks this last cat we lost and I put my foot down and said, no more cat.  We are now on #6.  We rescued her from the pound.  She had an upper respritory infection and they were going to euthanize her that day.  My wife and I wish your daughter the best.  Loosing a long time pet is like loosing one of the family.(excuse the spelling,it is not my strongest subject)Where is spell ck when you need it.

Prayers are up, up and away.
Cherokee Charlie is not who I really am but who I should have been.

Matt tell her he went to a very good home.

yea.. and that he is playing and barking and chasing butterflys and eating all his favorite foods.
Sighhhhhh~~ it breaks my heart for her.
I don't know anyone that hasn't lost a pet and cried and grieved. My heart still aches for my 16 yr old tiny toy poodle.
Sometimes I will wake up and I swear I hear her bell collar tinkling.  She would stand up and turn circles on the bed and once again, lay done by my feet. You never quite get over those special 4 legged friends.

Have you thought about letting her pick another puppy out for her birthday? or is she ready for that yet.
