Until this thread came up I didn't know that Bond had interchangeable barrels.  I found the page that I linked to above and started talking about getting a new barrel for mine.  Stumpy went and got one of my presents out from under the tree and made me open it, (ouch don't twist so hard).  It was a barrel for my derringer and a holster!  New barrel is on already.   :D ;D

My wife gave me a .357 Magnum Bond derringer for my birthday.  Last month I took it to the range to shoot it for the first time and it locked up on me with the chambers loaded with live rounds and the hammer cocked (see link below).  The Bond derringer has been returned to Bond for repair.

Bird Gun...have you heard anything back from them about what happened?

I've put well over 100 rounds through the .45 barrels in mine without a problem.  I hope not to have any with the .38s.

I have the Bond in 357 and have put about 100 rounds through it and have not had one bit of trouble.  Was thinking about getting a 45 barrel for it.

Deforge as far as I know the only one with interchangeable barrels is the Bond.  Have a couple of pards with the American Arms and they like them but you cannot change the barrels.

I had a pard giveme a cobra in 357 and I agree it is a piece of junk.  One of the barrels will not reliably fire so I was told.  I have not even taken it out.  It feels like a cheep little gun.

Camille, I've not heard anything to date.  I'm no gunsmith, but from what I could discern, the headspace must have been such that some cartridges with slightly thicker brass heads would not allow the barrels to close completely, yet enough to allow cocking the hammer.  The latch block will not allow the pulling of the trigger if the gun is not closed completely; however, it closed enough so as to allow cocking the hammer.  If the hammer is cocked, gun is not allowed to be opened.  I'll report what Bond tells me; if they tell me anything.

I've heard nothing but good things about Bond derringers.  I suspect the lock up problem that I have with my Bond derringer is a unique or rare anomaly.

Not allowed Derringers in this country.

The person in charge of the firearms section of the police has decided that there is no viable "main match" competition for them and so has made them a prohibitted import.

We have tried arguing the point but to no avail.

We can't even use pocket pistols as there is a barrel limit of 4" minimum.

If we keep going on he may relent one day.
