Spencer rifle serial number inquiry

Hi, recently acquired an 1860 Spencer serial number 32901. Any folks more knowledgeable know to which unit this may have been issued to?

There are no Spencer Rifles any where close to the serial # you provided.  Not to insult you, but are you sure you have a Spencer Rifle?  How long is the barrel?  Can you post a photo? 

If what you have is a Spencer Rifle it may have been part of a state purchase of rifles directly from the Spencer Company and as such, the serial # was never recorded.

To OP--is it perhaps a rifled carbine rather than a full-length rifle? 

A photo or at least info about the barrel length might help ID it.

My error for listing her as a rifle. Barrel is 22 inches and the block lacks the provision for the extractor spring.

Thanks for the update - Your Spencer carbine serial # 32901 may have been issued to Company F, 19th New York Volunteer Cavalry in 1865, no day or month listed.  The closest serial # to 32901 is #32992, a Spencer Carbine issued to this same unit.

Another possibility is Company F, 6th Michigan Volunteer Cavalry, a Spencer Carbine, serial # 32867 issued to this unit on February 1, 1865.
