I've gotten back into black powder recently and was taking a look at a pietta 1858 New Texas Army .44 revolver I have.  Now, I am no gunsmith but I have successfully worked on other firearms (and enjoyed it).  I was checking the timing and noticed that when I go from half-cock to full cock, the cylinder doesn't always lock up. It has to be slightly rotated a fraction to lock in place.  I've been researching this and appears it might come down to the hand or pawl.  Would this be accurate?

Well...disregard this.  I let it sit overnight in an oil bath and checked it right after posting.  Looks like some powder or something must have been gunking it up.  Reassembled and good lockup on it.  Never overlook the simplest things!
