Type II Conversion Revolver

I have a pair of Type II Conversion Revolver I purchased from Cimmaron. The first one had rubbing issues with the cylinder and the area of the frame under it, can't remember what that area is called. Sent it back to them and they worked on it. When I got it back, the drop for the related cylinder was all but gone. They worked on this area on my second one before they shipped it to me and it had the same issue. They told me back then, which has been a while I could just carefully file them to create the drop and put cold blue on them. I am not a gunsmith by no means. I am thinking about taking them to my local gunsmith to see what he can do. Would this be an issue for you if they were your guns? Or should I just live with it?

No Sir ! I would not live with it .... fix under warranty or replace it
and Cimarron should pay shipping both ways.

It may be a little out of warranty. You've already been living with it for what, a dozen years? If mine, I would maybe try the file, carefully. It might improve the aeshetics a bit.

I was a upset with Cimarron because I tried to get them to do something about it when I got the guns back from them but like I said all that said was I could just file it myself. I probably should have pushed the issue but didn't because it is a hassle to mail weapons. Haven't shot cowboy action probably last 3 years, but I started thinking about getting back into it and really want my guns to look like they should.

Uberti definitely had some problems with the earliest Type II's. There were some loose arbors (and conversion ring), and some with the barrel locator pins too low in the frame. Perhaps that was the original reason for Pappy's cylinders rubbing on the water table. I saw a few where the holes for those pins cut through the bottom of the frame.

I had one of the first Type II's to ship and had to send it back for all sorts of fit & finish issues. They replaced it with a new one.

I wish they would have offered to replace mine. I should have been persistent. I took one of mine to a gunsmith and he said he could fix the water table putting more of a step back in, but said if it is working I should try to live with it. Said he could fix it but if there was a burr it would tear things up. Said if I can't sleep over it he would do it I think he actually doesn't want to mess with it. So I guess I have lived with it this long I can live with it.
