Grand-Dad's Holster...

      Greetings!

   I have acquired Grand-dad's Holster, and I thought You All might enjoy seeing it. Any tips on leather treatment?
The leather isn't that dry, and I'd like to preserve it...

This is at least 76+ years old,  a bring back from Falaise, France (1944).
It had been stored in a shoe box with its Luger these past 70 some years, unit I acquired it in 2019.

It was dry and some cracked , Skidmore's was applied in 2 coats
It is pliable and useable as stitching is not pulled, course it is only displayed ( separately with the gun )

[St. George]

'Skidmores', 'Blackrock', 'Lexol' and 'Pecards' all work well, and won't discolor the leather.

One thing, though - the 'dry' that you see is evidence that it's a step before 'red rot', and there's no restoring that.

Major 2 and St. George are giving you good direction. I've used both Lexol Conditioner and Skidmore's Restoration Cream on leather. My experience is that either works good to restore the natural oils. Skidmore's also works great on older furniture where the wood has gotten faded and dried out. I brought an old cabinet back to life with the stuff.

I'm not familiar with  'Blackrock'

but have used all of the others St. George noted ... 

Presently I have Lexol & Skidmores...as an aside Skidmores is fine wood finish

   Thanks Mucho for the input. I believe that I have a tub of "Pecard's" around here, but was uncertain of it's safety. I know precious little about GDad; when pressing Dad for Family History, he informed me that getting GDad to talk was like pulling teeth. We do know that he grew up on a Kansas Ranch, and kept a Winchester SRC .25WCF, and a Colt's SAA .38WCF, both of which are not in our possession. As a kiddie, I remember seeing his scabbard and horse tack in the garage. The holster has GDad's initials carved on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if he made it; he was a very handy, do-it-yourself person.
