Nice.  I've been able to sort through stock and pick the wood on most of my rifles and I can tell you there are a LOT more plain ones than nicer ones.   As to your expected '86, are you sure it is an Uberti?  I am only aware of them carrying Chiappa and Pedersoli '86's (the one on their website is Chiappa).

Hi
I think you are correct I was under the impression that Cimm only sold Uberti's till I did some looking on the net
Hope it's as nice as the Ubertie's
Should be interesting to see what shows up

Howdy 45-75.  That is definitely a Chiappa.  Note the manufacturers part number AS18864570R , the AS is for Armi Sport.  Even though Armi Sport changed their name to Chiappa, their products at Cimarron still have the same part numbers.  Uberti rifles will have a CA prefix, Pedersoli will have an SH prefix.  (fyi, I used to work for Cimarron  :) )

The Chiappa is a good rifle.  You will like it.  No lawyer safeties!

WOW ok thanks for the info!
One question since you worked for Cimm. does the Chiappa have 1886 marked on the tang like the 1873 has it on the tang?

Abilene

Sorry, I do not recall that.  Maybe some good pics on Chiappa website?

edit: no good pics there.  A google image search brought up one that was on an auction site and had a view of the top tang, wasn't a great pic but couldn't see any marking.
