I recently picked up a Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt with 4 5/8" barrel. I decided I wanted to make myself a cross draw holster to wear around the ranch. I went with cross draw that way it would be comfortable on tractor, side by side, truck or on foot. I find a cross draw holster to be one of my personal favorites.

I wanted it simle and choose to leave it natural. I miscalculated a little on the size of the blackhawk and had to end up going with a rather thick welt which actually sures up the holster nicely.

I also wanted to try out my new edge beader on a real project. All in all its functional but not to the level I have come to like and I quarreled with myself on if I was even going to post photos. But, here it is.

That's a good holster. clean and uncluttered. That edge bead gives it a finished look. Pretty soon you'll be using it on everything.

Thanks man. I had ran the edge bead on a few scraps but it was a little different trying to finish the edge. Some spots were kind of getting smashed down but overall I think it turned out okay and I will definitely be using the edger more and more. I like the look it gives.

When I use an edge beader, I go over it a couple times if needed. There's an angle you hold it where the downward pressure helps hold it against the edge.

Made up a holster for someone who saw one of my other holsters. This one is for a 5.5" Schofield.

That looks good, Rube. It also looks like it would fit any other barrel length, too. That's a fine design.

Very nice! That's one of my favorite stamps. You did a great job of getting it evenly spaced and applied.

Thanks. It could fit other barrel length also. With the 7+ though the barrel sticks out.

There ya go! Clean and effective border stamping. Just the right amount to look good. Nice work on it.

Thanks. My Makers mark jumped a little bit on this one. With the derlin stamps I have to hit them several times making holding them still a task at times.

If you have a drill press or arbor press, that is a good way to do them without the bounce. There is also a press that is good for just leather working, too. The prices are anywhere from $80 - 150. Although I've been using my drill press, I suppose I'll pick one up myself eventually.

I actually have one of the Weaver 8 ton presses. I just havent wanted to cut down my stamp to fit under the press. I can usually do it without the bounce but at every once in a while it will do it.

8 tons will certainly do the trick. Can you adjust the spacing so you don't have to cut down your stamps?

Not on this stamp. Its too long/tall. I really just need to have another made or just cut this one down.

Or get one of those little leather presses for the same price as a new stamp.
