Celebrating our 44th anniversary today. Time does fly.
I remember our wedding was on the coldest day of the year. People who came to the reception stayed longer than we'd anticipated. After all the adult beverages were consumed we broke out the hot coffee. Just as many takers.

24 degrees here, looking for a high of 28. 8" of snow cleared off now, so shouldn't be any closings.

I remember then, several real cold days, was just out of trade school and went to work for VW shop, trying to push dead ones in that had sat out a day or so took 4-5 guys.  74-77 was one of the coldest winters on record around here.

Ah My Dear Russty

you are to kind to this poor demented babbler.
and in fact, whilst I do talk to anything I can, including bears, dogs, racoons, weasels, snakes, ravens, owls, trees, rocks, drunks...
(btw I find the rocks and trees to be the most attentive)
I do confess that my "bear talking" was, if not inspired by, at least justified by Park Rangers -

from https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/safety.htm
snip-------------------------------------
Bear Encounters

Once a bear has noticed you and is paying attention to you, additional strategies can help prevent the situation from escalating.

1) Identify yourself by talking calmly so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal.
......
6) Continue to talk to the bear in low tones; this will help you stay calmer, and it won't be threatening to the bear.

"Greetings My Dear Bear.
Prof Marvel Here, I have my ID in my wallet if you like...
lets see, no, that is the park pass
wait this is my insurance and registtration.
Do you take visa or mastercard Monsieur Bear?
Oh I am so sorry it is Mademoisal Bear, My deepest appolgies, ....
perhaps I can interest you in some postcards or snake oil?
If not, I will be hapy to read to you the Park Regulations on bear encounters and the Bear Relocation policy...

Wait, Don't go!
I have so much more I would like to share with you! Did you know.....

Hello? Ms Bear?"

prof babbles at bears

When I was just a young'un (in my thirty's) a friend of mine and I went backpacking in Northern Wisconsin on the border with the UP of Michigan.  Had a bear loping down the road in front of us, but no chance for a conversation.  However, the next morning showed we were camped right next to a large beaver pond.  Had a chance for a nice long conversation with one of the damn (I meant dam) engineers, but it was rather one sided.

Russ T who babbles with anything willing to sit still long enough to pay attention! ;D ;D ;D

Went to the store with Rita to get stuff she forgot yesterday. ::)  Lexie went to a friends so I went along as the helper,  not sure who helps who but got home, got them carried in and put away, planning on in till Sat.

I did it, I am officially old and worn out, got an appointment with the GP Dr on Tuesday to apply for a handicap permit. ::)  Use Rita's when she's with me but refuse to use it when not, like anyone would check it that close, just won't except at the hospital and still have to walk about a block at that, they told me to since Valet is shut down.   Been not going to do it but like people tell me I don't have to use it if I want to walk, but with ice and real cold weather it might be a good idea, that stuff around 0 just about kills me now even with the sild bandanna.

John ain't been around to shovel, can't get ahold of him, Lexie is a wuss like her mom and dad, will work on it but she does so much inside I hate to push it.  I hope John is OK but worried, thought about doing it while Rita was at therapy today and decided that was stupid, if I had a heart attack and died people would never let me forget it. ::)
