I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd show my latest creation.

One of my Dragoons was without a holster, and we can't have that! So I made this one for it. I made my own pattern and I think it turned out well. Here's the leather cut out and all the stamping and cutting done.

I wanted it black, so I used vinegaroon on it and finished it with oil. I used white stitching because I like the contrast.

It's pretty simple, not too flashy. I think it'll serve me well.

Very nice! Looks like a good pattern, Dave. That dragoon should be right at home in it. Good work.

Very nice! That's a perfect design for that Dragoon.

I like it. Good looking pattern and the gun looks right at home in it.

Thanks again fellas.

It's very satisfying making things for yourself.

You got that right, pard!

You get exactly what you want, too.

Especially when someone asks "where did you buy the great looking holster?" and you can reply "I made it myself".

Be very careful about saying that! Over 50 years ago, I made a holster for myself. My section OIC asked the same question, and when I made the same reply, asked me to make one for his 2nd Gen Colt's Buntline Special, which I did. (About 8 years ago, I asked him if he still had it, and he said he still wore it while walking around his farm. Sadly, he has since "crossed the Divide")
I had someone else ask the same question in 1975, and I wound up registering my trade name with the state.  When I got laid off from my primary aerospace job in '89, I turned my hobby into a business. When you make them for yourself or a friend once in awhile, it is fun.  When it is you profession, it is work! Be careful, who sees your handiwork, Pard.  I got enough competition out there as it is.
Seriously, very nice job!
Stay well and safe! :)
