What is the real problem with .45 Colt blowby?

Ah .. Well .. Not quite. But almost.  Your still going to get Blow-By with Smokeless.  How bad will depend on the powder used.  The Blow-By Fouling will concentrate on the front of the Carrier Block Mortice and the front of the Carrier Block itself.

The Carrier Block is powered down by the Lever Side Spring that rides on the Carrier Block Arm.  The Carrier Block Mortice and front face of the Block itself can foul to the point the Spring can no longer push the Block down.  When the block "sticks" the rifle jams.  If you run lighter Side Springs, it really really jams.  In that case, one should add Positive Slam Down for the Carrier Block Arm and carry a small spritz of Break Free in ones Possibles Bag/Box.  Cleaning between matches to keep those areas Clean, Free Running and Sanitary

I always clean after a match or range run. Too many years of shooting milsurps with corrosive primers will make you aware of it. After your input [thanks again] I will probably stay with regular weight springs in the gun. Usually run Trail Boss, Unique or Red Dot.

Personal Opine time.  I don't like Trail Boss for anything . . . well, maybe fertilizer.  Trail Boss burns real dirty.  Icky Foo.   Unique is pretty OK and I shot a lot of it until I discovered TightGroup.  I like TightGroup.

Regular (OEM) springs will result in premature wear.  Set of Slix lever side springs is a really good idea.  Positive Slam Down can be had easily.  Just ask me.
