Running with scissors

Retired 6/8; before retirement volunteered inside of institution for 92 hours, between 5/3-6/8. Probably only volunteer in institution. Since then, another 90 hours. I do understand my siblings concerns, I shouldn't be there! One of them called it "running with scissors". So be it, have done so my entire life, I have worked outside the box! I know, I may put myself in harms way, I can't stop!
Early June, VA sent out soft start survey for volunteers, 2 months later, no response! 2x levels volunteers, students/Veterans. This old fool, one of the younger veterans at 62, how many students/veterans said they would come back, I don't know. I made an "Soft start proposal". 3x volunteers per day, 1 mail room, 2x escorts, all 3 working from mail room, escorts will have minimal patient contact, transport specimens only, when not transporting specimens, will stuff & seal envelopes. Proposal strong enough, forwarded up the chain.
My plan on retirement, volunteer 20 hours a week, either VA or UIHC. Both kicked out volunteers mid March. UIHC refused me as a volunteer twice. Don't know why?
A sibling calls me out with "Running with scissors" I will accept that comment with honor!

They don't want us old pharts so just enjoy your retirement.

I hope by next spring all my problems are better, I'm chomping at the bit to do the things I planned on doing.

Hi Dusty, your topic title reminded me of a local shooter about 20 years ago whose alias was "Runs With Scissors"   :)

I am sure, things will be better next spring!
This USAF veteran has stories to tell but can't. TS SCI clearance, ties me to non disclosure to this day.

Sounds like our place - sent home in March, survey about coming back, but no recalls yet.  At least I can do some
research  at home as I had started it before we closed, as that is one of the things I do there.  Maybe next month.  Retirement is boring for the wife and I without the volunteering, especially these  past few months.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought it was about Micah Brooks.  Slim has never disclosed how Micah "earned" his alias.

Now that you mention it, he never has shared that, has he?!  Sounds like a campfire story coming up!

Hi

I don't remember the term "Runs with Scissors" until Dances with Wolves came out.  I always thought that his version of Wyatt Earp was better than wolves.
