Does anyone have a used civilian sack or suit coat suitable for 1890-1900 time frame, about size 50, that they would sell? Maybe one that has suffered "closet shrinkage". Doesn't need to be in perfect shape, it's for a shooting outfit, not dress wear.

How much would you want for it? I'm thinking a size 50 should be about right for me, since my 1887 US jacket is a 48 and it's a bit snug. That's assuming that the imported US jacket is true to size.

I'd do $65 shipped  and include the  shirt & Bib tie

The coat is 50-52

I guess it might work. I see quite a few of the pictures seem to have one guy wearing the "older style" button to the neck coat. I guess since I'm the guy with a 25 year old truck, 31 year old motorcycle, and a flip phone, maybe I'm the natural for that...

There's a couple in this pic, as well as some type of uniform coats:

I don't think you noticed but three of them have a pipe in their left hands.

Don't know if a deal has been done but I have a dark brown, cotton cord Sack Coat, size 52 and made by River Junction Trade Co. back in the late 1980s. It's been hanging in a closet since about 1995 and is in quite good condition.

Pony, let me know if it sounds like something you might be interested in and we can talk.

If you don't like what you see so far, go to e-Bay and type in your size of jacket and suit coat.  There will be all sorts of stuff you can modify if you need to.  Old tuxedos often work well to start with.

Hi

I bought a brown double breasted  overcoat a few years back from James Country Mercantile.  They're good, but not overly expensive.   If memory serves, you're a Missourian too.  Sack Coat is listed at $100.00.

Good luck with the quest.

Mine was 3 when I graduated. But it was several years later when we got together...

Planning on using my Swede Mauser. Don't have a proper Boer Mauser, so the Swede will have to be close enough. Plan on using it at one of the Sept Iowa Muster. When I started reading about the long range portion going out to 500 yards, well, At the Grand Muster "Ivan" was having trouble using enough "Kentucky windage" to get the Mosin Nagant on target at just 300. Soooo what rifle might I use, and then what impression can I use with it?

Couple of old cradle robbers , we are ....  I was 37 and "SHE" 27 when we tied the knot.

I have a  95/16 Spanish Mauser short rifle that is a sweet shooter , but never tried it out @ 300 yards.
