Howdy,
The Blue River Regulators "Ruckus at Raccoon Forks" annual week-end shoot is on for September 12-13.  Nebraska has a Pro-Open Governor and we expect to be a go for the shoot in September.  Our range meets all requirements for an open-air event so unless thing go crazy we think it will happen.  The registration is on the NCOWS website. Here is a link to all the information you will need http://ncows.com/posses/brr/Ruckus2020Registration.pdf

Hey Yuma,
Just making sure I read this correctly; Friday is practice only, there is no Long Range match this year, correct?

I do have to chuckle, go to hotels.com, no rooms available in area. Did go to maps application on phone, did see what lodging was available in area. Looks like sleeping in my van.

I wonder if folks were anticipating a home football game that weekend and reserved motels? With no game that weekend, I can't imagine there being any issues getting motel reservations.  ::)

I will be setting up a "long range" event this year for entertainment purposes only,  no Cadillac Grand Prize this year. You will still get a chance to demonstrate your skills Sir!

No, the local establishments not affiliated with hotels.com.
There is a B&B near by, and a Motel in Wahoo. Other than that, Fremont or Lincoln outside of Hotels.com parameters to include. No home game at Nebraska that weekend.
Iowa is season ticket holders only, no non conference games, sounds like 1st home game, only 7000 spectators. Nine years later, overlook the fact, Nebraska is Big10.

::) "entertainment purposes only"? Wouldn't that include the whole match?  ;D The most "Entertaining" match I remember is when you and I tied for second in the long range there and had the shoot off. I really enjoyed that!

Quote from: Dusty Tagalon on July 24, 2020, 09:24:38 AM. Is football still on at Nebraska?
I think Iowa is season ticket holders only.
I think that would include the whole stadium except maybe the student and visitor's sections. The last I saw the season is still on but is only conference games

Bryan,
You will need to register ahead of time for meal planning, posse assignment and category placement. However, if you wish to pay on arrival that would be okay. Be sure to mark that on your registration.

Dropped in mail this AM.
Confused by last post, finally realized, previous post wasn't for me.
Still laughing though, no Hotels.com affiliated in area, yet receive a daily post to search again.
Pine Crest Farms B&B, & Heritage Inn in Wahoo, not affiliated. I have a choice, sleep in van or Heritage Inn. Will do both, drive on Friday, check in & sleep in van Friday, shoot Saturday, then check into Heritage Inn Saturday after shoot.
Made my reservations for 9/12 tonight.
If it comes down to it, can sleep in van both nights, & give up reservations if necessary.
BTW; Single queen, 2nd floor.

This "SOF", (Stupid Old Fool), signed up as senior 2x gun smokeless shootists, if insufficient participants in my category, can drop senior, or smokeless, shootists would be hardest for me to drop. Will have ammo on hand for shift.

Looking at big picture. Understand, I am an Hospital Employee/Volunteer! I will wear a face mask & face shield at match! Doing so, I have survived being front line for 4 months now. I will wear them to protect others. I want to attend, but don't need to. I have been exposed at least 4x times & survived! Coming from 25th hottest county in Iowa, 2x more positives per capita over Saunders County Nebraska. I understand, this makes me a risk to others, anyone objects to me attending, I will withdraw. In all honesty, I feel safer in hospital environment than outside.
I am not trying to derail event! Approach safely!
Working on options with face shield, current modern, with no hat. 2x shields arriving next week. Want to wear period hat & a face shield.

In case you are wondering where I am getting my data, it is from John Hopkins.

Mouse click on counties.
BTW; website fails on my IPhone.
One thing going for me, with students back on 8/24. Guessing Covid won't start increasing until after shoot, but will keep an eye on it.

Have 2x period rifles in 32/20, (Colt Lightning, &a Winchester 1892) & 1 reproduction, 1 of 1000 Marlin 1894. Colt is finicky, before use need to take to range to see if I have resolved issues. Sunday was a disaster, need to work out failure on the Lightning.
I can safely work the 1892 in my home safely, the Lightning, No!  Lightning has to have hammer fully down to cycle, safety sake, won't do at home.

Had a productive day; took my New Model #3 to range to verify caliber. Early versions were not stamped with Caliber on side of barrel, could be S&W 44, 44 Russian or 44/40. Had Russian & 44/40 with me to try. Tried Russian 1st, cases bulged to .460. 44/40 OK. On the way home, it dawned on me, I had another 44/40 revolver at home, so do what I should have done in the first place, mic the cylinders. Ole #3 is sn 197, refinished & chopped a long time ago. A fugly but functional gun. Will be the 1st Single Action I have shot in years of competition! Will replace the plastic repo grips with Stag grips from Grip Maker.

Prepping for Ruckus, loaded 41 Colt & 44/40, verified all 44/40 would fit in cylinder. Took all of my 32/20 & ensured all could fit in a revolver.

Keeping an eye on county COVID numbers, on the way down now from a high of 344 on Wednesday which equates to 224 per 100,000.

The website says click here for map, but I can't get it to work. I will probably come across
92 to the north

92 isn't a bad way to come John, especially if you like to avoid Omaha and I80. You will need to come about 5 miles South on Highway 79 off of 92 to get to the range.  I don't know the County Rd. number you will head West off of 79, but I will get back with you. It will be great to see you, I have a new sight on my Sharps you Iowa Huckleberry!  ( Yup,  talkin Sh#t!)

John,
If you can gps to Valparaiso, here is a pdf map on how to get to the range. Looking forward to seeing you!

But when you look at the map rotate it 90 to the left ;D     YES!  So as you can see on the map it is County Road F you will turn West (right) as you are headed South on Highway 79 towards Valparaiso.   Beware of the slight jog to the right as shown on the map, it is a 90 degree turn with a downhill grade immediately over the crest of the hill, you don't want to hit it at 50 or 60 MPH!
